FG to exhume late corps member's body for autopsy

The Federal Government has hinted that the body of the youth corps member, Ifedolapo Oladepo, who died recently at the Kano State NYSC Orientation Camp, will be exhumed for autopsy.

The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, dropped the hint on Thursday while addressing State House correspondents.

The National Youths Service Corps had, in its investigation's report, said the girl, a first-class graduate of Transportation Management from Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomosho, died of a kidney infection.

President Muhammadu Buhari had yesterday ordered an independent investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of Ifedolapo who has since been buried.

But the sports minister explained today that the independent investigation ordered by Buhari would require an autopsy to balance the government's conclusion on the incident.

"The report given by NYSC is normal and it's natural that after investigation, they must present their own report on what has happened. But in view of the fact that there are many versions on what led to the death of the NYSC member, it would be fair to look at another version of what happened to be sure of what actually transpired. It doesn't have to do with (President Buhari) not trusting the process; but gauge the report alongside other opinion; then, we'll now be able to tell Nigerians that there were the circumstances on how she died.

"Don't forget that the report of the NYSC has no autopsy and an independent investigation will require an autopsy. And now, the autopsy, alongside the report, will balance and it will fortify the conclusion the government will make," Dalung said.

  1. They should allow the dead rest in peace. Was the same FG sleeping wen the matter happend till the girl was buried. They need scrap that useless service that claims lives of innocent children in that country. Most of the dead in records happen in the North, if not attacked by usrless malams, it would b a strange sickness, Abbah, what a life unhealing pamernent injuries if Nigerian government bestowing on innocent parents, these os all due to some cabal with selfish interest not wanting the cancellation of this meaningless program. People in government never allow their children to face these kind of hardship called service. Now, how much will government compensate the parents of these children that can worth the lost and forever pain and agonny that the parents will go through for the rest of their lives. This country needs revolution against obsolete barbaric ideologies and policies.

  2. I agree wit u that d program should stop or cancekled, afterall d government is not giving them employment after d service year. They should even stop posting them to far places. Let them stay very close to their parents if at all they would continue. Government should look into this o, the way at which they are been treated at d camp is not good at all. They are bn treated like animals. It is unfair o. May d ALMIGHTY GOD give Ifedolapo's parents and the entire family d fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. What a pretty and promising daughter! May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
