We retrieved N1bn from Dikko, ex-Customs boss, N100m from Obanikoro - EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has retrieved N1 billion from Abdullahi Dikko, a former comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The commission also confirmed reports that Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defence, returned N100 million.

According to NAN, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, disclosed this via a SMS.

Dikko, who headed the NCS between August 2009 and August 2015, was reportedly arrested by the EFCC in June over alleged diversion of N40 billion from the agency’s coffers.

He was said to have been released due to his poor health and was expected to return more money.

Uwujaren confirmed the seizure of a property belonging to the former customs boss in the Jabi District of Abuja, saying it was under investigation.

There were reports that the property – a mansion located at 1 Audu Ogbe Street, Jabi, Abuja – worth N2 billion.

Uwujaren said Obanikoro also dropped his international passports.

“He dropped his Nigerian and American passports, apart from being released to two sureties,’’ Uwujaren said.

Obanikoro was released on Friday after spending 18 days in custody.

He is being accused of a N4.7 billion fraud, also linked to his two sons, Jide and Gbolahan.

They should be tried and if found guilty be jailed and properties be confiscated.
It is not enough for them to walk in and stroll out a free man..No that is unfair this money belongs to Nigeria and one person and his family will take and return less than 1% and be free to spend the rest. They should spend their old age in jail.
People are suffering now cos what they did . CHILDREN are dying and they walk freely faking sickness. .No they must pay for it. Suffer for it.
So what will happen to koro boys. THEY should be declared personal Jon grata.
LET them come and pay for their stealing.
GOD will destroy all looters to their roots.
LIGHT will not shine in their lives for ever.
