A 63-year-old man Korede Odubela, has been arrested by police in Ogun State for allegedly killing his 16-year-old step-daughter, Amudat Oshimodi, and selling her head to his son, Seun, a herbalist, who allegedly paid N3,000 as first installment.
It was gathered that the suspect reportedly connived with another accomplice, Lekan Lawal, to commit the crime at Imosan Area of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the state.

These were revealed by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded 12 suspects, including the two suspected killers, at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran Abeokuta, yesterday, for various offences including robbery, burglary and stealing.

Iliyasu said Odubela, who is the leader of the gang connived with Lawal by strangling Amudat to death, after which he sold her head and hands to ritualists. The CP said the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, received information about their activities and swooped on them on November 7. According to Iliyasu, the case was still being investigated, while the corpse of Amudat had been deposited at General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, morgue.

Odubela told newsmen: “It is true that Lekan Lawal and I connived to kill my step-daughter.

The girl was 16 years old. She was always stealing her mother’s money.

And the mother said we should kill her as a sacrifice for the other children she had. “Since she normally slept at the door post outside, at 12 midnight, I invited Lekan Lawal. He held the girl by the neck and strangled her while I held her legs.

That was how she died.” Her mother’s tale However, Odubela’s wife, Fausat, who was in tears, told newsmen she had five children in her first marriage before she remarried Odubela, but denied asking her husband to kill her daughter.
She said though she was not happy with the character of her late daughter, she could not have asked her husband to help her kill the troublesome girl.

She said she brought Amudat to her husband’s house when she was two years and 11 days old, until she grew up and became promiscuous.

Meanwhile, police commissioner also paraded nine other suspects, which included three highway robbers: Tochukwu Njikonye, Abdulahi Abdulamid and Obinna Mbam, arrested on October 3 at Ogbere area, along Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway. 6 nabbed for raiding computer lab The six others paraded were held for burglary and stealing.

They were said to have burgled the computer laboratory of Egba-Obafemi Community Grammar School, in Obafemi-Owode Local government Area of the state, where they carted away 95 tablet computers and their chargers.

Iliyasu explained that the school principal, Mrs. Ajiboye Olaide, later reported the matter at Owode-Egba Police Station on November 9, and the Divisional Police Officer and his men swung into action.

He said two suspects were arrested in the school’s surrounding bushes, leading to the arrest of the gang leader, Oluwagbotemi Ojo. Ojo, however, confessed that the school’s security guard, Saheed Adamu, gave them information on how to burgle the computer laboratory.

The CP said the alleged receiver of the stolen computers, Sunday Olufemi, was also arrested in Ibadan, while all the computers were recovered.
