Gernot Rohr delighted with Godswill Akpabio Stadium

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has thumbed up the good work done on the turf of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium , Uyo and has praised the government of Akwa Ibom State for making the pitch ready in time for Saturday's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

The Eagles complained about the state of the turf of the ultra modern Godswill Akpabio Stadium after their 2017 Afcon qualifier against Tanzania but the state government under Udom Emmanuel moved swiftly to correct the anomalies and Rohr in a chat with the media after the Eagles’ final training thanked the people of Akwa Ibom for the gesture.

“The stadium’s pitch is fine and now in very good condition. We trained there on Thursday I can say that we are happy at the condition of the turf,” Rohr told journalists.

“We want to thank the Akwa Ibom Government for making the stadium ready for us. We couldn’t train there today (Friday) because we have to give way to our opponents to have a feel of the stadium and we made use of the Practice pitch.”

The German coach assured Nigerians that the Eagles will be very competitive on Saturday and that even though the tie would be tough he is very confident that his players won’t let the nation down against the Algerians.
