Dana Air named official airline for Reps’ 2016 SDGs summit

Dana Air says it’s the official airline of the House of Representatives’ 2016 Legislative Summit on Sustainable Development Goals, slated for Nov. 22 to Nov. 23 at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

The airline made the announcement in a statement by its Communications Manager, Mr Kingsley Ezenwa and made available to the newsmen in Lagos on Friday. The statement said this year’s summit with the theme “Understanding and Stimulating Legislative Roles and Responsibility in Achieving the Sustainable Goals in Nigeria’’, is being organised in partnership with 1st DevHub Nigeria.

It quoted the Accountable Manager of Dana Air, Mr Obi Mbanuzuo, as saying that the airline was proud to have been announced as choice airline for the summit. The statement said he gave the legislators the assurance that the airline would do its best to provide a comfortable and hitch-free flight services to all the delegates. According to the statement, Mrs Christina Ude, Consultant to the House Committee on the SDGs and Team Lead, also expressed delight at the partnership.

“The world today is more interconnected than ever before and the SDGs can only be realised with a strong commitment to national and global partnership,’’ it quoted her as saying.

The statement said 1st DevHub Nigeria’s Senior Partner, Mr Kenneth Nwokoro, explained that the summit was focused on improving legislators understanding of the SDGs.

It added that the summit would also focus on how their roles impact the attainment of the goals in Nigeria. It said that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was expected as the Distinguished Guest of Honour, while Mr Thomas Gass, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, would deliver the keynote address.

“Dana Air is the only domestic airline to have undergone an operational audit conducted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) and its foreign partners, the Flight Safety Group.

“The airline operates daily flights from Lagos to Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Owerri,’’ the statement said.
