Updates from Ogun State chairmanship and councillorship elections

Restriction of vehicular and human movement is in force between 8am to 3pm.


Accreditation of voters and voting started in some polling units as early as 8.05am in some polling units in Abeokuta, Ado Odo-Ota, Ijebu Ode, and Sagamu among others. Whereas in some areas, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission officials and voting materials arrived late.


At Abeokuta North East Local Council Development Area, Sokori voting started at 8.29am at Ward 10 unit 7. At Abeokuta North Local Government, Ward 3 Unit 5,6 and 7, located inside the Muslim Model Nursery and Primary School, Ago Oko area, voting also started 8.30am
.Nigeria Police force deployed no fewer than 5,000 men.

According to Public Relations Officer, Ogun State command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kareem Olanrewaju, the command deployed 5,500 men, while another 1,000 intelligence officers in mufti had also been despatched to various units across the state

.Other security agencies like the military, and men of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prison Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Directorate of State Services, Ogun State Traffic Enforcement and Compliance Agency, are also mobilised for the election
.As of the time of filing this report, the election has been peaceful.
