President Buhari to meet Niger Delta leaders October 31

President Muhammadu Buhari will now meet with leaders of the Niger Delta region on October 31.

Buhari’s meeting with the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PNDF, an amalgamation of monarchs, leaders, groups and stakeholders of the oil rich region was initially slated for October 29 but was rescheduled to October 31 because the first date was Saturday.

The change in date was confirmed by both the leader of PNDF, former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark and Secretary of the Central Working Committee of PNDF, Mr. Ledum Mitee.

Reports quoted the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, as saying he was actually looking at October 29 until it was found out that it was a Saturday.

He said, “It was actually a suggestion that the meeting could hold about that date, but having found out that 29 is a Saturday, you know it is not possible to drag the President for such a meeting on that day, the better day is Monday, October 31, so that is date.”

Clark had kicked against the intial meeting of the Federal Government with Stakehloders from the oil region, saying it was “contrary to the expectations of well meaning people.”

  1. Now that oil is heading towards 60 USD a barrel, the need for talks has arisen. Like I always say, find a life, Nigeria. We have fed you all for far too long. Adults you are now, but still crawling. Everlasting babies, suckling forever! Lagos,Ondo and Borno, even Imo and Abia all have oil. Explore it and leave us alone. We have had enough. Leeches!
