Obasanjo makes order for ‘Made-in-Aba’ shoes

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has made an order for made-in-Aba shoes.

Obasanjo made the order through the Chief Marketing Officer of Made-in-Aba Product, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu during the 2016 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum in Lagos.

While making his speech at the event, the Abia State Governor stated that Aba remains the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) capital of Nigeria, where young Nigerians were engaged in the business of making of shoes, clothing and other products.

The Governor added that a firm that had an order to supply up to 50,000 military boots was currently in Aba, where Aba shoemakers were making the production.

“I am happy to announce here that Aba which is the commercial nerve centre of the Abia State and Old Eastern Region of Nigeria, is also the SME capital of Nigeria, where young people are in the business of making shoes, bags and clothes, including the one I am wearing.

“Let me also announce here that a private firm, that has an order to supply 50,000 military boots is currently in Aba, where our shoemakers are in production for the firm.”

Speaking as one of the panelist at the forum, Obasanjo said to Governor Ikpeazu: “Governor, I listened to you and I commend you for what you’re doing in Abia. Please keep doing what you’ve told us you’re doing.

“So, Governor Abia, you have to send a pair of the shoes to me, I use size 42.”

  1. Abia governor should make sure he do all roads leading to Ariara market for easy access. Not to just boast of what can come out of Aba SME alone. What Senator Orji could not do throughout his 8yrs waisted for Aba I espect Ipezua to do now.

  2. Lets hope he does something in Abia especially Aba. The former rogue governor Theordoe Orji(currently a senator, unfortunately),his family and his evil cronies fleeced Abia to a comatose state. He would show videos of roads he never did and feed the world with lies during his tenure in office as governor of Abia State. To travel from Umuahia or Aba to Akwai Ibom is the worst nightmare in life because he could not as much as fix 100 meters of tge roads. It still amazes me that this wicked iniquitous snake son of the devil soul is still in government. what a country! It still baffles me that our people there can blame PMB for the woes facing them when the real enemies are their brothers. One day, of certainty, Theodor Orji's doom day shall come. As God lives and as I live even in the shoe of Elijah this man shall end up like Ahab for all the sufferings he inflicted on Abia.
