Barcelona have announced Javier Mascherano has agreed an extension to his contract ahead of putting pen to paper on Monday.
The 32-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half year renewal, which will see his new terms run until the summer of 2019.
An agreement between club and player was reportedly reached some time ago but a suitable time and date for the official presentation delayed an official announcement.
Mascherano joined Barcelona from Liverpool in 2010 and has gone on to make nearly 300 appearances, though remains without a goal for the Catalan outfit.
In six seasons, the Argentine has won four Liga titles and two Champions League crowns.
