21 Chibok girls, parents arrive Aso Villa for meeting with Buhari

The 21 girls recently released by the extremist Boko Haram have just arrived the Presidential Villa, Abuja where they are expected to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The girls arrived with their parents and family.

They are currently being screened at the Banquet Hall of the State House from where they would be taken into the inner precinct to meet with the president.

The 21 of the over 200 girls who were abducted from their school hostel in April 2014 by the Boko Haram were released last week following negotiations with the Nigerian government.
The government has expressed its desire to continue the negotiation and get all the remaining girls released.

Boko Haram has said it is ready to swap the girls for some of their members in detention across the country.

It is not yet clear if Wednesday’s meeting is only with the parents of the 21 released girls or all the parents.

They were led into the Villa by the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently chairing a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, at the council chamber of the Villa.
