Invest in Nigerian sports — OGD urges Dangote, Adenuga

Immediate past governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has challenged rich Nigerians like Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote as well as Chairman of Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga to invest in Nigerian sports.

Daniel who spoke in Shagamu when he was conferred with the title of the National Patron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria ( SWAN) argued that the involvement of such rich Nigerians will go a long way in helping the teeming youths to be meaningfully engaged in sports.

The former governor who is reputed for his giant strides in the development of sports facilities across Ogun State specifically advised Alhaji Dangote who has been in the news in recent times following his much talked about interest in acquiring Arsenal football club of London to also invest even a tenth of such amount in the development of sports in Nigeria.

“The other day I read in the media that Alhaji Dangote wants to buy Arsenal football club. I also know it might be a business move and I know equally that sports is big business but I want to advise him to try and invest just a tenth of that money in the development of Nigerian sports and the result will be amazing.

  1. Dangote is a hawk who takes from Nigerians and give nothing back. I personally hold him responsible for the high cost of living in Nigeria today.
