I have been paying my workers, It's a sin to owe workers in recession – Governor Obiano

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has said that it is wickedness and sinful for any employer of labour particularly government to owe workers salaries in a time of recession that Nigeria is now.

Obiano made this remarks at the commencement of the Anambra State Fire and Safety Summit in Awka on Wednesday.

He said payment of workers’ salaries would energise the economy in a recession and make life more meaningful for the people.

He said, “A state that does not pay its workers is inviting calamity. Payment of workers’ salaries energises the economy.

“We saw this recession early and made agriculture one of the pillars of our administration.

This is why we have been paying our workers. It is wicked to owe workers at a time like this.'' he said.

  1. I thank God for Mr Peter Obi who streamlined this foundation for Anambra state, but I thank you Willie for sustaining it though.

  2. You are very correct, even the Bible condemns it! Most of the stupid Governors prefer to steal the money, make their immediate family and allies comfortable than paying staff.
