Gbenga Ogunbote Tipped To Replace Aigbogun At Enyimba

Enyimba could axe their head coach Paul Aigbogun and replace him with his Shooting Stars counterpart, Gbenga Ogunbote.

Aigbogun took over from  Kadiri Ikhana, who led the Aba giants to a seventh Nigeria Professional Football League title in the 2014/2015 season.

Under Aigbogun, the People's Elephant finished in a disappointing ninth position in the table and also failed to make an impact in the CAF Champions League.

Enyimba have however made it to the last four of the Federation Cup where they will face Nasarawa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Saturday.

A reliable source at the Abaclub told newsmen that even winning the Federation Cup may not save  Aigbogun's job.

"At the moment, it is difficult to see coach Paul Aigbogun remaining in charge of Enyimba beyond this season," the source said.

"The performance of the players under him has been disappointing and many think the club need  a new coach for next season.

" Coach Gbenga Ogunbote is one of the best coaches in the league at the moment and if everything goes well, he will be the one to take over from Aigbogun.

"Nothing is decided yet. I think everything will be sorted out after our participation in the Federation Cup."
