Head coach of the Nigeria U-17 Women's team, the Flamingoes, Bala Nikyu, has assured that his girls will bounce back from their 1-0 loss to Brazil, when they face England on Tuesday.
A Micaelly strike in the 41st minute sealed a 1-0 win for Brazil against the Flamingoes on Saturday.
Looking ahead to Tuesday's game, Nikyu promised an improved performance against England.
“I was somewhat disappointed in the girls’ outing against Brazil. My team is much better than the one that went out on Saturday," Nkiyu toldthenff.com.
"I don't want to apportion blame. What we have to do is correct our mistakes before the next game and forge ahead.
"I think my players were frightened by the name ‘Brazil’ and they did not settle down to play their game. They have always played better than they did against the Brazilians.
"Having said this, I admit the first match at a championship is always difficult, so I believe we will be much better in subsequent games.”
