Etebo, Ogu Back In Eagles Squad For Algeria Clash



Hapoel Beer-Sheva midfielder John Ogu is one of the five new players called up to the Super Eagles squad to face Algeria in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier next month in Uyo.


Though the official squad list is yet to be released, it has been gathered that Oghenekaro Etebo will also make a return to the team after having been certified fit by his top flight Portuguese club Feirense.

Ogu, 27,  last featured for the senior national team against Chad last year and is one of the five new players coach Gernot Rohr invited for the crucial game against the Fennecs of Algeria.
Ogu, who has been impressive for the Israeli champions this term, has played 14 games in all competitions and scored once.

Etebo, who got injured at the 2016 Olympics in August after scoring four goals in one match, has fully recovered. He has played three matches for Feirense this season and scored once.

According to reports, both Ogu and Etebo have received their letters of invitation and are eager to play for Nigeria again.

Other players expected to be named in the squad include Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Odion Ighalo, Brown Ideye, Kelechi Iheanacho, Elderson Echiejile, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon and Kenneth Omeruo,
