Eguma Lauds Governor Wike ‎For Planned Reception

Rivers United Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma and captain of the club, Festus Austin have hailed Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike for his planned civic reception for the team in appreciation of their performance in the concluded 2015/2016 NPFL season.

Rivers United, formed only on February 19, 2016 – a merger of Sharks FC and Dolphins FC, finished the season on 60 points, just three points behind winners, Enugu Rangers to secure a ticket for the 2017 CAF Champions League.

In appreciation of this feat, governor Wike has scheduled a grand reception of the players and officials of Rivers United at the Government House today ( Saturday, October 8, 2016).

“I want to thank the Governor for this show of magnanimity because it will go a long way in motivating the boys to do even more," Eguma stated.

“The Governor has been our number one supporter and we wanted to win the trophy for him.

“We gave it our best shot, just fell short, but we will try harder to go one better next season.'

Similarly, Austin says he is not surprised at the development as the Governor has always proved to be a lover of football.

“I am not surprised because the Governor loves football and success," the Rivers United captain remarks.

“I thank the Governor for the planned reception and I am very happy about it.”
