Dino Melaye asks Buhari to grant Presidential Amnesty/Pardon to treasury looters

Senator Dino Melaye had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to give presidential pardon and amnesty for treasury looters .

Melaye in statement on Sunday said “Though an unrepentant advocate for integrity and forthrightness especially from public office holders, I however sincerely want to recommend that Mr. President grant Presidential Amnesty/Pardon to all those who looted our treasury provided they return all proceeds of their loot to the government within six (6) months of the declaration of the Amnesty.

“This, I believe will encourage the voluntary return of the the looted funds, empower the government financially to immediately commence the implementation of projects and programmes that will stimulate the economy and raise the peoples’ standard of living, and save the judiciary and other law enforcement agencies the agony of fruitlessly pursuing the looters in and out of the courtrooms.

In the long run, this would be a win-win situation for both the government and people of Nigeria,”he said. “At the expiration of the six months’ ‘Moratorium’, all those who failed to comply would then be made to face the reality of aggressive and expeditious prosecution and eventual jail terms for convicts in accordance with the laws of the land”, he said. ‘His Excellency and Distinguished’ from the names of President, Vice president, Governors and Senators respectively.

” In this regard, I recommend that henceforth no President, Vice President, Governor, or Deputy Governor should answer the name ‘His Excellency’ until the material condition of ordinary Nigerians has also become ‘Excellent’. No Senator should continue to answer ‘Distinguished’ until the the masses of the people begin to experience a distinguished existence and no Federal or state Legislator should wear the badge of ‘Honourable Member’ until the ordinary citizen is himself living a life that can be classified Honourable in every material particular.

    1. Is like, you are the one that's confused.. Don't you see sense in what he said with the reality of present corruption cases in courts now?.... How many Billion of Naira has been recovered?
      With your judiciary that's corrupt?
Just tell me Mr... This would have been a best bet..... Do you think Buhari will be there for life? His time is running out fast if you don't know...
If this advice is not followed, the situation will be someone that owed another person huge sum of money and he's persuaded to take 60% of it and he refused, eventually, the debtor died suddenly, what will happen?
At least, government should work towards collecting 60% of the looted fund if amnesty is declared..... To me, this will make sense!

  2. In fact Dino are very smart. It is clear that the so called fight against corruption will get no where with the way they are going about it. Lopsided vindictive violation of rule of law media trial etc. Timipre Sylva has just reclaimed several of his houses earlier seized by EFCC... What does that say?

    1. Foolish words from Dino. He's bargaining a win-win between us and his cronies corrupt fellows in the national assembly. So he's telling us to softpedal now and be aggrssive in the fight later. So what will make it aggressive later if you guys don't amend/pass the law to back it up.Why can't you pass the bills now? Thief.

  5. Dino is a fool . This clearly shows we have unrepentant thieves at the helms of affairs in this country. I am yet to see anyone sponsor a bill on corruption
This fight against corruption is mere show. Send a few to jail to show how serious matter is. Jokers

  6. From the very onset I knew that the so called war on corruption was a hypocritical fluke. A portal for vengeance against perceived enemies! The chief architect of this viscous enterprise is the same person who despite glaring evidence to the contrary, boldly and shamelessly proclaimed that late Gen. Sani Abacha wasn't corrupt. I repeatedly asked myself why? The answer wasn't far fetched. He felt clannishly obliged to defend the man as a way to reciprocate the good gesture of the late general in appointing him the head of PTF. His moral judgment to me became very questionable, and that is why I am not in the least surprised that he could go into alliance with Senator Tinubu and consort with the likes of ex governors Rotimi Amaechi and Fashola as ministers of 'very lucrative ministries' To president Buhari loyalty and reciprocation of gestures far out strips any moral compass in the so called fight against corruption! This attitude further explains why, no matter what you say or evidence you produce against his trusted allies, he would not accept that they are corrupt! At all cost They must be rewarded for their loyalty.

  7. Wisdom is always profitable, the truth is always better as people do say but Malaye has spoken well on this one , PMB will fight a fruitless fight but if he listen to Malaye advice it will yield a better result by granting them presidential pardon for those who willingly return the looted treasury , and they are not returning now because of political ambitions and future interests , any politician or political appointees has a private interests for now or in the nearest future that they don't want to dent , Dino you are carried on this one .

Who will return? Nigerian looters? Get busy and find better bills to present for a progressive Nigeria.

  14. How long will this fight against corruption elapse? Infact we are getting confused on how much has been realized in the fight against corruption. When will the government settle down to implement most of the budget provisions and promise to bring us out of this urgly recession. We better collect 60 percent to avoid gathering wealth for other future looters.

  15. legalizing corruption and you expect a better Nigeria. Dino should just keep quiet.
