We Are Not NPFL Champions Yet - Imama

Enugu Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo has praised his players for their superb display after they secured a 2-1 away win against Ikorodu United in their Nigeria Professional Football League match-day 37 fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta on Sunday.

The Coal City side moved closer to ending their 32- year wait for a domestic title with the win.
They now need a point from their last game of the campaign against El-kanemi Warriors to be crowned champions.

Imama heaped plaudits on his side for their impressive and resolute display in the encounter.
“I must congratulate my boys for a job well done. We set out with a clear-cut objective which was to win the game and I’m happy we are able to achieve that at the end,” the former Sharks and Enyimba assistant coach told journalists.

“Ikorodu United have performed excellently well in their recent games and coming down here to get maximum points is not a small feat.

“We did well by converting the chances that came our way in the first half and that played a key role in us winning the game.

Imama however warned his side to keep their heads down ahead of their last game of the campaign next weekend.

“We are not champions yet as there is one game ahead of us,” he added.
“So, we have to wait until we get to the finishing line before celebrating.”
