Super Eagles Are Beatable - Ex-Zambia International

Former Zambia striker Zeddy Saileti has declared that the Super Eagles of Nigeria are beatable.

The Eagles will be guests to Zambia on matchday 1 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Sunday, 9 October.

Saileti, who was a member of the Zambian team that lost 2-1 to the Super Eagles in the 1994 Africa Cup final in Tunisia, posited that the fact that Zambia failed to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations was enough motivation for wanting to compensate that failure with World Cup qualification.

“I think that Nigeria is a big team, it’s a big name in African football but they are beatable, there is no need to fear them. We have failed to qualify to the Africa Cup and they have also failed, they may have the players in Europe but the truth is, they have not been doing well in recent years,” Saileti, who is assistant coach at Nkana Red Devils, told the Zambia Post.

But we equally haven’t done so well, though I am made to believe that it’s us who want it the most because we have never been to the World Cup.

“Now we have a new technical bench which means we just have to prepare very well, work very hard and if we work hard, we can win…You only lose or win on the pitch, so I can only encourage the players to put in everything, prepare well and we can surely make it, there is always the first time.”

Last week Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) appointed Wedson Nyirenda as new head coach of the Chipolopolo.
