Rio 2016 Paralympics: Josephine Orji wins Nigeria's 8th Gold medal with a new world record


Team Nigeria have claimed their eighth gold medal at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games on Wednesday.


Josephine Orji came tops in women’s +86kg category, setting a new Paralympics and world record in the process.

Orji lifted 160kg, while her closest competitor, Poland’s Marzena Zieba lifted 134kg to take silver.

Netherlands’ Melaica Tuinfort claimed the bronze medal with a 130kg lift.

Team Nigeria have now won 11 medals in total: eight gold, two silver and one bronze.
