A crude oil delivery line belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company crossing Afiesere- Iwhrenene communities in Ughelli North Council Area of Delta State has been blown up by suspected militants.

A militant group, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred at about 1am on Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the militant group, Aldo Agbalaja, confirmed the development in a statement sent to our correspondent.

The group, which is simply called Greenland, threatened further attacks while disclosing that Tuesday’s attack was carried out as part of ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’, a planned series of attacks on oil facilities, which it declared earlier.

It said, “As a mark of our faith to totally grounding the Nigerian oil economy, the gallant “Opudo” strike forces brought down the Afiesere- Iwhrenene major delivery line in Ughelli North, leading to the UPS/UQCC operated by NPDC/SHORELINES at about 1am today 13th September 2016.

“The Niger Delta is not a conquered territory and our people have never succumbed to intimidation before, rather we match force with the oppressor’s brutality.

“The Nigerian government should already know that the people of this part are not fools, who will not be able to see when they are being treated with disdain.”

The militant group reiterated its call to those living and working around oil companies within the upland region of the Niger Delta to vacate such premises to avoid being injured during attacks.

Warning that it was running out of patience with such people, the group said, “For the last time, leave these areas if you live around them and if you love your lives.”

  1. Keep it up, dudes! Pollute your farmland very well - to show your land is not conquered territory. Destroy more oil facilities. Then you will flourish. You will become very wealthy and have the best roads, schools and hospitals. Do more, boys! Well done!

  4. Emeka, do u know majority of these idiots re actually not ready to do anything? All they want is sm1 dolling out money like former president Jonathan did. Those overnight millionaires and billionaires Jonathan made have done nothing to better the lives of the same people they claimed to be fighting for. Some left the chores of this country to establish private university. Why not in the Niger Delta region? Please asked anyone who has worked within the region the meaning of Sit-at-Home workers. The very good people of Niger Delta are not in support of all these rubbish. This is just the handiwork of Greedy politicians and some miscreants parading themselves as freedom fighters.

  5. I had stayed and lived in the region for many years, the questions are: who are the real people maltreating and malginalising the region? the answer should come from their leaders and not from the Government. the second question is - if the government is not treating them well as they always claim do you think two wrongs can make a right? It is obviously NO. Blowing up pipe-lines to ground the economy is not the issue here, if the economy is grounded, of course government will surely look for a way out though the general populace will suffer for that period, but i tell you these guys are causing more harms to the region as regards pollution. Have you been to Ogoniland? you need to be there to see the soil and water, these spheres (water and soil)have been soaked with oil which is making it impossible to farm nor fish as the case is. Dont forget just three days ago, a call was made to the FG that the farmers and fishermen cannot carry out their activities as a result of the activities of these youths, because it has drastically affected the livelihoods of these farmers and fishermen. My people we dont need to encourage or support the activities of these militants. I have got a lot to say but for now...... this is my submission. God bless Nigeria.
