Masari urges Nigerians to have faith in Buhari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has implored Nigerians to have faith in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the President will not disappoint the country.

Masari also called for continuous prayers that God should deliver Nigeria from her current travails.

A statement by his Media Assistant, Abdu Malumfashi, on Tuesday said the governor said this shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayer in Katsina.

Masari said there was no challenge that committed leadership and prayers could not overcome, adding that, “in President Muhammadu Buhari, the country has the right leader who has the commitment, determination and selflessness to get it out of the economic dire straits it is navigating.”

He said he had no doubt in the capacity and ability of President Buhari to lead Nigeria back into prosperity.

He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is not new on this job, nor is the challenge new to him. In 1983, when the country was tottering on the brink of collapse he came in and salvaged the situation.

“That passion and burning desire to serve selflessly are still in him. These are evident in the manner he is handling the economy and the security challenges confronting the country.

“God has brought him again to do that which he successfully did all those years back when economic and security challenges had all but brought the country down on its knees, and I am confident that he will do it if we give him the support and cooperation he requires. He needs our prayers too.”

The governor called on Nigerians at home and abroad, especially those currently on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to pray for the country and its leaders.

He also called on Nigerians to learn from the lessons of the Eid-el-Kabir and live in unity and peace with one another, adding that both Islam and Christianity were religions of peace.

Also, Nigerians have been urged to exercise more patience with the Federal Government as it works tirelessly to fix the economy.

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mallam Umar Imman, said this on the sideline of the celebration of the creation of the state in Lokoja on Tuesday.

He said it was true that Nigerians were going through a difficult time and governments at all levels were well aware of this and working tirelessly to rectify the situation.

He said, “No doubt, times are hard, but it is not the creation of the government. However, there are evidences that they are working tirelessly to fix it and with time, everyone will smile.”
