John Obi Mikel has teamed up with the Nigeria U23 team in Atlanta, USA, the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed.
The Super Eagles captain is one of the two overage players selected by the Dream Team VI handler Samson Siasia as the team targets a gold medal in Brazil.
He had posted on Instagram to announce his departure from Chelsea's pre-season training in Austria.
Mikel missed out of the 2008 Olympics staged owing to club commitment and he is expected to captain the team as Nigeria battle Sweden, Colombia and Japan in the preliminary round.
