Junaid Mohammed to Buhari - 'It's time to treat Niger Delta avengers as Boko Haram terrorists'

Popular Northern politician, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has asked President Muhamadu Buhari to treat the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, as terrorists and mete out appropriate military action against it as it is doing to Boko Haram insurgents in the north.

Mohammed, who was a member of the last National Conference, told newsmen on Sunday that it was wrong for the Buhari administration to try to appease the Niger Delta militants while still confronting a similar terrorist group in another part of the country.

The Kano politician and former adviser to President Shehu Shagari, warned that any attempt by Buhari to negotiate with the avengers instead of crushing them to serve as a deterrent to would be terrorists, could lead to another civil war in Nigeria.

“Why is Buhari tackling Boko Haram with the military might and going behind to negotiate with Niger Delta militants? he asked. “If Buhari is not careful with the NDA he will plunge the country into another civil war because he does not have the mandate of the law to negotiate with terrorists. “No forward-looking nation negotiates with terrorists.

And I should say that if he does not have the political will to deal with the militants, he should step aside. Governance does not have room for destroyers.

  1. Burukutu @ work. There is difference between militants and terrorists. While your brothers take lives in mad manners, this avengers don't. Seeking for fair treatment not Islamic caliphate like your brothers. Shut your tramp if you've got nothing to talk about.

    1. What called for the sudden militancy? If GEJ had won will there be this militancy? In as much as I don't want death or military action of any kind against any section of this country somebody needs to talk to this guys to know that uptil now Nigeria is still one. Some people has oil resources while some has more human, mineral and agricultural resources yet untapped.

  2. If he want Buhari to treat militants like Boko Haram. Same should be melted on Fulani hersdmen. If GEJ has won the election the country would have been in great turmoil by now. But thank God he who once said if he looses election there will be blood bath in the country. What he sow is what he is reaping for now. The only way out is for him to do the rightful thing needed to be done. He shouldn't be partial in whatever he is doing. He should carry the country along in one accord.

  4. I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN THIS JUNAID OF AN IRREDENTIST AS A SADIST AND VERY UNENLIGHTENED FELLOW. WHEN DID HE CRITICIZE BOKO HARAM AT ALL IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE NEVER DID AT LEAST TO ANY PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE THAT I AM AWARE OF. BOKO HARAM AND NIGER DELTA AGITATORS ARE NOT IN THE SAME MOLD. HAS HE EVER BEEN TO THE NIGER DELTA TO SEE FIRST HAND THE KIND OF LIFE AND INJUSTICES THEY GO THROUGH. JUNAID SHUT UP. Jay 2, Abuja.

  5. The other day one another mad man from the north also said that there ain't nothing like oil producing states. He went on to say that Nigeria is as a result of 74% northern land mass thereby quoting UN charter on water territory to substantiate his claims. They have plans. They believe others are slaves while they are born to rule, occupy and dominate. Before oil boom there was 75% resource control. Wicked oligarch of north has turned it to below 10%. Imagine an Igbo man freely assigned a 500 hectre of farmland in Sokoto? Same as 90% oil blocs awarded to northerners in the south-south. Be rationale Nigerians! No sectionism!!!

  6. Militants have enjoyed their reign under GEJ and should allow Buhari to govern. The president is at liberty to deploy soldiers to flush them out as the C in C if his pleading fails to turn the so called looters/oil thieves from their evil ways

  8. Some of those called Dr's there's need to review their qualifications then call some of them to defend their certificates. This is how he was advising Shagari, misleading and causing confusion in country. Is this how an elder stateman should talk? since when Buhari began to fight Boko Haram has he succeeded? A man like this who supposed to preach peace. Nigeria is loosing soldiers,, resources everyday to insurgency. How many of his children or brothers are in the war front?. I can't imagine the calibre leaders we have in this country, selfish, self-centred and myopic.

  10. It's very simple. Try to crush them and it's not only salary money you will be begging for but even food to eat. How can you be so unfair to a region that provides virtually all our cash inflow, has for power, ports for export, etc. ? In one month, they showed their capability. Yaradua learnt the hard way. Even IDPs you won't be able to feed.

  12. PMB has done well for begging them.As a good president of Nigeria,he is presiding over NIGER DELTA as part of Nigeria. Therefore he is supposed to beg them first. If they turn deaf hears to pleas, there is no other option than to crush them. They are just making noise, they are not as powerful as BokoHaram who are ready to die. These avengers are money worshipers who enjoys life.
