I’m going to suffer in my new parish - Fr. Mbaka

Enugu Catholic priest, and founder, Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has said he is going to suffer in his new parish.

Mbaka made the statement after he was moved from the Christ the King Parish, G.R.A, in Enugu metropolis, where he served as parish priest for over 20 years, to Our Lady Parish, in Emene, a suburb of the Coal City.

While handing over to his successor on Saturday, Mbaka said, “I know we are going to suffer, between now and few months to come, I am going to suffer.

“I am going to suffer because I have no place to lay my head; I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the (Adoration) Ministry’s assets.

“The Adoration Ministry is passing through suffering right now.

“Even though I have accepted it as the will of God – it is the will of God through suffering – it is a mega suffering.

“But however, the grace of God will carry us all – even though some of you may pray that God should remove this thorn from us, the scripture says ‘His grace is sufficient for us, for it it even in your weakness that the power of God is demonstrated.”

It was gathered that Mbaka would move from a duplex, which served as his residence in the old parish, to just a room in the new posting.

The said room is only equipped with a small toilet and a bathroom, as well as a small table and a bed, it was learnt.

Mbaka, who was the parish priest-in-charge at the CKC Parish, G.R.A, will serve as an assistant parish priest in the new parish.

It was also learnt that Mbaka’s transfer was part of a general redeployment of priests by Enugu Catholic Diocese, headed by His Lordship, Bishop Calistus Onaga.

Buhari and Mbaka
It was equally gathered that the diocese routinely redeploys priests every six years.

But Mbaka, and his massive followers, have linked the development to the anger reportedly expressed by the hierarchy of the Catholic Church over his role in the build-up to the 2015 presidential election, when he condemned former President Goodluck Jonathan in a message entitled ‘From Good Luck to Bad Luck’.

In the message, Mbaka prophesied that Muhammadu Buhari would win the election, and urged his followers and other Nigerians to vote for him.

Buhari eventually won the poll.

Following the election, Mbaka has been accused of engaging in partisan politics after he visited Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and went ahead to allege, in a New Year message, that the President’s opponents were plotting to kill him.

It is widely believed that the leadership of the Catholic Church in Enugu was not comfortable with Mbaka’s activities.

  1. Why carrying news about ordinary things that does not add value to Nigerian development? What is the role of this ordinary man in the development of the country? I think you press people should give us news that will add value to our lives and not frivolous issues like this.

    2. In reporting news stories, human angle is a key ingridient and responsibility of the press. Rev. Mbaka is more newsworthy than many politicians. He is a paper seller, add to the fact that he has become politically significant lately. Saeed, you are not under any compulsion to read every item in news stories. There is what is called selective perception. Do not universalize your viewpoint!

  2. He is only moved close by. He is talking like he was moved to Chibok diocese. Priests always get moved around. You see why religion and politics should not mix? Every move becomes politicised especially when you contradict what you say after important visits from government. So sad

  10. One of the beauty of the Catholic Church is what you are seeing now. Whether Fr. Mbaka likes it or not, he must obey. Yes, the Adoration family will suffer but he must obey. If it is all these our "Daddy&Mummy churches", i bet you he will break away under the guise that God has asked him to open a new church. Only a true Minister of God will accept such posting. My piece of advise for Fr. Mbaka however is that he should ensure that he is not distracted by wordly frivolities and happenings around us but should be focused on battle for the souls that he has been ordained to salvage. Even in the wilderness, people thronged to visit John the Baptist. Wherever you are posted to, let your good work find you out.

  16. Is this man a catholic priest or APC Father. The sins os Lucifer was that of disobidence and pride and I see the two clearly in you. So if Mary slessors and Ajayi Crowders and early missionaries chose where thy should to go Mr Father do you think you would have heard about Christianity ? Afterall most of them came and developed your community and build parishes before they left for new communites. What manner of Priest are you? Ok you want your Bishop to post you where you tell him abi? Maybe in Aso rock so that you will be moving about with presidential jets abi! This man has derailed so much to the point of insurbordination. Infact in the catholic church I know he is even long over due for sanction. They have been so lenient on him. Mr Father you can leave the catholic church now you are not the first and will not be the last to leave. But I pity those unfortunate gullible ones that are following you. Judgement will be on on your head if you continue to lead these gullible ones entrusted to you astray. Haba! Na only you be Father. Why bringing the Church to disrepute. You can leave and the work of God will continue. Haba! Pride, arrogance and disobidence is now the cassock you put on. Anyway Lucifer was once an angel of God.

    1. Lucifer was never an Angel of God because Angels don't have the will power to disobey otherwise they would have disobeyed God.They are created from light while Lucifer from fire..Lucifer is an intelligent Jinn that was gifted with knowledge, but he disobeyed God when he was asked to bow down to Adam.....See the difference between him and the Angels. All the Angels bow down as commanded but Lucifer/Satan refused saying 'because he was created from sand/mud.

  17. I don't know why the Priest is bringing politics into the Ministry. To start with, suffering is part of the calling of a Christian, and assuming without conceding that Emene is a suburb, is it not part of the great commission to take the message of salvation even to the uttermost end of the earth? Who does he want to go there? He should please stop this. As a matter of fact, I want to bring it to the notice of everyone that his Adoration Ministry is in Emene and a stone throw from his new posting, and also where the Roman Catholic school-Caritas University is located. Now tell me, did his posting not make his ministry easier for him? Rev father plsssssssss
