Boko Haram militants strike in Adamawa, burns down military artillery

Rampaging Boko Haram militants on Sunday night engaged Nigerian troops in a fierce battle in their new bid to take over Gulak, the administrative headquarters of Madagali in northern part of Adamawa State.

Security and local sources say the insurgents, who came in three vehicles brandishing guns, burnt down a military base as they also burnt down three artilleries and carted away guns.

“They came around 7 p.m. and started firing on the soldiers during which all the soldiers ran away.
“There was pandemonium, people scampered for their lives, many slept in bushes, they killed one soldier during the fierce battle.

“Our local vigilantes had tried by staying back, until another troops were deployed from Madagali town and Shuwa, they engaged them, if not they would have recaptured the town for the second time,” said James Ularamu, former chairman of Madagali.

The former Council chairman, and a local vigilante who did not want to be named, said there were heavy gun battles.

The local vigilante, who couldn’t say whether there were casualties from the Boko Haram side, said “after we chased them away they fled to the nearby Sambisa area.”

Efforts to get the army spokesperson were futile, but a member representing the area at the house of Representatives, Adamu Kamale, confirmed the attack.

He, however said he did not have “much details for now”.
The state commissioner of information, Ahmed Sajo, said additional troops had been deployed to the area.

    1. It's not that our soldiers are cowards, but when you are faced with superior fire power you withdraw and restrategise your warfare. This is the fundamental global warfare principle . You can't equate the life of a soldier with that of weapons, men operates weapons not the other way round.
Am not a military personnel, but am talking from experience as an ex-cadet. We need to praise this guys in the frontline sacrificing to guard us all, , it's not easily standing watch, when don't even know who the enemies are, the boko bastards are fighting our troops unconventionally, and they by they are adopting newer strategies, if I may ask how many of you condemning soldiers will not melt hearing heavy shelling, not to talk days and weeks this guys don't sleep well or bath under difficult circumstances. Some even get injured by wild animals.
Please think well, before making comments, because the operational area our troops are working is so hash you can't compare the hash weather there to where most of you are living. I have lived there four good years, even lived in one of the formations. So please just encourage our troops and pray for them.

  3. Nigeria is a funny country where any thing goes. How can our military apparatus run away from BH boys.Does it suggest that the bh boys are more equiped than our military men? Bahari cannot just handle this madness. The earlier we know this, the better. All the promises he gave during his campaign to fight bh headlong when voted for are nothing to come by.

  8. Congratulations fellow Nigerians. This is the change you voted for. CHANGE FOR THE WORST. I do not trust the report in the news. From experience of war in other nation the military will keep on deceiving the civilian until Boko Haram suddenly takes over the military equipment in borno and lauch a national attack. It is a wrong move to move military headquarters to the north east. If boko haram takes over our national artillery, I do not think there would be Nigeria. I strongly believe those moving the national defense headquarters to the northeast might be trying to give out our weapons to the enemies. Do not be surprised when you hear the central headquarters of the army in the northeast have fallen. United state have fought so many wars but never moved their military headquarters, then why should we move our own military headquarters. The head of defense can move to the northeast while our artilleries should remain in the where they were initially. FELLOW CIVILIANS DO NOT TRUST THE REPORT WE GET FROM OUR DEFENSE HEADQUARTERS. If I am a military man I will also not give the right report because I would like to use the media as a tool of war giving excuse as beneficial to national security.

  9. "By December, we shall see d end of Boko Haram"said PMB. Now, we are in December.Soldiers are fleeing, Buhari is running, Boko Haram are gaining control. We pray that this "change" does not turn to "shame" But as events are unfolding, we are watching.

  11. Many believed and fooled themselves that Buhari is the right person. I believe they are all seeing what is happening. Buhari wasnt prepared to rule this country. He didnt even knew he will rule this country again but Jonathan with his simplicity handed over this country to a man who never knew he could rule. Now he is confuss and those blowing his trumphet as the only righteous man we have in nigeria are gradually going back to hiding places shame on you all who surpoted change. Only God can change this country thru the person he feels is the right one not bunch of hypocritic leaders very soon God will deal with you pll one after the other. Shaaaammmmeee.
