We Recovered N27Million from FESTAC Bank Robbers - Police

On Tuesday morning dare-devil armed robbery gang numbering over 40 stormed both Diamond and Access Banks at 4th Avenue, FESTAC Town, Lagos, however the Area E Command said they tried their best despite being at a disadvantage numerically to defend the bank from the robbers.

However, hours later the Area E Commander, ACP Frank Mba, tild newsmen that they recovered about 27 million from the robbers, who were forced to drop the stolen money before they fled.

He also said they recovered about 240 rounds of AK47 live ammunition, adding that the money has been deposited at another branch of Diamond Bank, still in FESTAC Town.

  1. Story story. Over an hour after the operation and Festac has an area command. No news on how they recovered the money and if any of the robbers was caught, injured or killed. The Police needs to wake up to its responsibilities, change its attitude of looking for faults were there are none in people's particulars and learn proper policing. In advanced nations only two officers with hand guns are able to hold off gangs with AK 47s until re-imbursement comes and in some cases take them out themselves. We have a whole area command of supposedly skilled people and they are talking about being outnumbered. The Nigerian Police is full of incompetent, unskilled and corrupt people who only join the force because they are unemployable elsewhere or are looking forward to making money via extortion. I am not saying there are no skilled and intelligent cops (mainly in the senior ranks) but the preponderance of the lowly staff are a deserve to that institution and an embarrassment.

  3. The police didn't show up until the robbers robbers have left, I'm sure they just saw a bag of money the robbers left behind. Those robbers operated for about 45minutes, the police station is 5minutes (maximum) away, this man is now giving us stories to make it look like they're working. They still have illegal checkpoints in festac by 23rd/4th avenue junction, by the market, close to the robbed banks and sometimes right in front of the police station. They're so powerful when extorting innocent motorists and citizens, but when it's time to do their job, they ask stupid questions like "how many are they", "what type of gun are they carrying". There's little difference between them and the robbers

  4. What rubbish is Frank Mba saying? Does he think we are fools? where was Marine Police during this film show, probably looking for battery to start the boat. The NPF needs total overhaul to win the confidence of the populace and also Police welfare needs to upgraded .

  5. And so 40 criminals ( or so ) disappeared into thin air after spending 45 minutes terrorizing a neighborhood ?
    Absolute crap !!!

If the Security operatives are sincere , you will not take this lightly - at all. It is not just unacceptable , but human lives have been taken and those responsible must pay !!!

Mark my words. If this is not fixed asap , the show of impunity will continue unabated. I am sick of hearing , reading and witnessing stories for over 25 years in this country about daredevil criminals make us look and feel helpless.

My heartfelt sympathies to the family that lost mother and child. No one deserves to die the way you did. No one.
