El-Rufai compares the Billions of Naira spent by Jonathan for the yearly Independence celebration to Buhari's N70 Million

Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai has taken a swipe at ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan for spending Billions of Naira on the yearly Independence day celebrations, compared to Buhari's 70 million Naira for 2015.

El-Rufai noted in a Facebook post on Thursday that under former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Federal Government spent billions every year on Independence Day.

He noted that between 2011 and 2014, Jonathan spent over N64bn celebrating Independence Day.

Curiously, in 2010 Jonathan budgeted N10 Billion for Nigeria’s golden jubilee celebration.

He wrote, “This is the APC/PMB change we voted for.
Independence anniversary expenditure for the past five years:

2011 – N13 Billion;

2012 -N15 Billion

2013 – N14 Billion

2014 – N22 Billion

2015 -N70 Million

  2. Did the pdp government built new parade ground, new chairs, new horse, new Nigerian army...........etc. Please I want pdp members to give me or the entire Nigerians the break down of the above xpenditures. The God of the common people of Nigerians will not forgive all pdp members/supporters. I am ashamed of the continued existence of Papa Deceive Pikin, in this great nation called Nigerians. Were is the big mouth, Olisa Metusela. He should burry his head in shame. How much did Jonathan budget for education, water resources etc. Recently the people of Otuoke cry out for water shortage in their community.
I remember Pat Jonathan say, there is God. From all indications Patience Jonathan and Good Luck Jonathan does not know God at all. God will surely judge all that we do.

  6. El-Rufai, you have done very well. Can u also provide us with the figures spent by previous administrations before Jonathan, to enable one compare and know if Jonathan is the worst offender.
As far as I am concerned all previous administrations with the exception of that of Buhari/Idiagbon commited the same offence, some even worse, especially IBB and OBJ, so highlighting the offence of one administration and leaving the others is not fair. Besides, it is time to leave Jonathan alone. Remember, you would not have had the opportunity of saying all these if Jonathan had decided to cling on to power, and not humbly bowed out to avoid shedding blood of innocent Nigerians. Leave Jonathan alone and face the business of the day because we have heard a lot of all these since you guys came to power. Let us know how much has been recovered and used judiciously for the benefit of all Nigerians.

    1. My dear, in a forum like this, desist from insulting people. All persons cannot have the same perception of issues. So, express your views politely, but do not insult people, no matter their views even it their views go strongly contrary to yours. That is what makes one mature and responsible.

  16. The huge amounts enumerated above, did it go into the pocket of Jonathan? or was is it not given to Nigerians around him as part of business. It is better now that Buhari spend N70m, which means only Buhari`s cousins did the job. Presently, there is no money in the system and lots of businessmen are complaining. For me I believe that the huge spend was within us Nigerians. Because you did not part take does not mean that the spend was a waste. Looking at things now no business is flourishing simply because the new President seems not to worry but they keep saying that there will be a change. There is time reserved for change to take place than now. People like El Rufai and the entire APC Chieftains should stop distracting the Buhari with nonsense politics.

  17. Those who continue to defend the previous administration can never see light. I pity my country, 22 billion a day, and u are saying it was spent for Nigerians. A budget of some countries in west Africa. No investment for the country. Please go and learn from Kuwait. It had fund for the next generation if oil is finished today. Ours is to blow grammar without performing when it comes to. 22 BILLION A DAY WHILE PEOPLE DON'T GET JOBS.Our population is less than 200,000 . Give out 5billion to citizens. Kuwait in the recent years gave each citizen the amount of N500,000 cash, easy and quiet. It is on this earth. CHANGE we need.

  18. When do we stop dwelling on the past and forging ahead? This new government has development a penchant of sleeping and when it wakes up, the first thing you hear is Jonathan. Please , fulfill your campaign promises a d stop telling us how much tissue paper Jonathan used to wipe his ass when PMB uses only water. The cost of traveling every 10 days by PMB is also huge.

  22. NE is clearly bias. Why not publish my comments. Let El Rufai tell us how he got N90 billion as most of his working life is in the public service. All his antics are well known to Nigerians. He will surely fail.
