Diezani Alison-Madueke in fresh corruption scandal, accused of stealing £13 billion to buy UK property

For the embattled former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, things are about to get from bad to worse after she was reportedly caught while trying to buy an expensive apartment in UK, according to UK’s The Sun newspaper.

The report by the paper said: “MS Diezani Alison-Madueke Nigeria’s former oil minister, has just been nicked in London over allegations that £13billion (yes, £13billion) has gone walkabout from her country’s coffers.”

“Apparently she was looking at buying a massively expensive apartment at One Hyde Park. With £13bn I’m surprised she didn’t buy the whole of Hyde Park.”

The former minister is currently being investigated over alleged money laundering case and bribery.

She was arrested on Friday in the United Kingdom, for alleged bribery and corruption-related charges.

NigerianEye recalls that Diezani also denied any wrong doing when accused by the then Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano, of alleged misappropriation of $20 billion oil money some months ago.

Mrs Alison-Madueke was Petroleum Minister between 2010 and 2015.

  2. Haaaaaay!!! Chaaiiiiiii!!! So 20billion was really missing. Hmmmm God save Nigeria from demon possessed persons who will take even the crumbs off the plate of poorer people just to add to the overflow in their own plate. If this story is true then she should be charged for murder. That money could have been channelled into the economy and saved many lives eg persons who have starved to death due to non payment of salaries

  3. I really do not know what to say. Is it 13 million pounds or 13 BILLION pounds? BILLIONS? Only one Nigerian? Haba! How was she able to transfer all that huge sum abroad? Am I day-dreaming or is this a reality? Well, for now, I would just stay cool and watch the entire drama as it unfolds in London and see how the entire amount of money can be repatriated back to Nigeria with the assistance of the UK authorities.

    1. I agree with you man. I still can't close my mouth trying to pronounce the money and reason it to a point that one woman from one office could do this to NNPC and to Nigeria at large. Damnnnnnnn . She should be tried in UK jailed and send her spirit down to Nigeria to be tried, after which we look for good spiritualist and Dibias to use her spirit to send errand from Benin to Sokoto on daily basis. So when she die the Spirit must have forgotten the body it came out from. The spirit will keep wondering even on judgement day she can't be found to be judge . Dammmmnnnnn. Let me not believe the said amount yet.

  12. Fun, fun all the way. When the erstwhile CBN Governor pronounced $20 million missing in NNPC, GEJ told us that it was a fluke. The good news is that when all the ill-gotten wealth are exposed, some of you will not comment again but you are good at spontaneous reaction. You will recollect that the 7th session of the Red chamber invited this same ''untouchable minister'' for investigation, she rushed to the corrupt judiciary to obtain an injunction to stop the investigation. Nigeria, we hail thee.

  13. its surprising that some people can question if $13 billion dollars can be missing. its simple logic. the size of nigeria's economy is way more than that and your supposed budget has never reflected the gross amount of money supply. in an environment where the NNPC does business and pays the Federal Govt. its share of its business operations, how is it the hard to believe that $13 billion dollars can be stolen? in actual fact, given our propensity for corruption in this country, the total money that would have been lost will be more than that. Put on your thinking caps before you comment and anyway, she has to prove she did not steal as much as that, so allow her to do that and stop defending thieves cos even if the amount is not up to that, the fact is her hands are not clean.
