Christian Chukwu faults Oliseh poor handling of Vincent Enyeama

Green Eagles captain, Christian Chukwu has faulted coach Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh on his poor handling that led to the humiliation and sudden resignation of Nigeria’s most capped player, Vincent Enyeama in Belgium.

Enyeama announced his retirement from the Super Eagles yesterday after falling out with Oliseh over his stripping of the Eagles captain as well as ‘’making me to look like a begger’’.

Chukwu, a former captain who led the Eagles to the 1980 African Cup of Nations victory as well as captain of the dreaded Rangers International of Enugu said Enyeama should not have been subjected to such embarrassment.

‘’For whatever it was, Enyeama as a captain deserved respect. Oliseh should have managed things in a matured manner. If he(Oliseh) knew you don’t want him in your team, he should not have invited him in the first place. Removing him as a captain is not the issue, but he deserves respect and should not have been humiliated to the extent of calling security men to walk him out of camp’’.

Chukwu said that he was worried that the poor handling do not get a backlash. Enyeama played 101 times for the Eagles and has a lot of players who are loyal to him. Oliseh should show more maturity and know that he is now a father to the team.

He is a Manager and should manage the players well to get the best from them. Result is important’’, he said.

  1. I agree with you. Perhaps, Oliseh had forgotten that he also was once a player and how would he have felt if his Coach had treated him in the same manner. Discipline in a team is very essential, but this has to be handled with wisdom, especially where top and experienced players are involved. To ask security men to walk Enyeama out was really a big embarrassment on the player. I do hope we have all learnt something from this incident.

  2. Shut up Christian Chukwu or whatever you call your name. What exactly do you know about football? I remember when you coached Nigeria, was it not Jay Jay Okocha that was in charge of the team? Players buy you wrist watches and report to camp a day before a match and still get to play. Oliseh is not like you and can.t be dictated to. I listened to Enyeama on the internet and I was very shocked at what he said, he is very disrespectful to Carl Ikeme. He said I can't sit on the bench, for who? Even if we know Carl is not on the same level as you but Coach Onigbinde gave you the chance at some point in 2002. So feeling too big now not to sit on the bench is very surprising. Thank you for serving us and besides you are NEVER the best to represent us, we still reckon more with the likes of Rufai, Agu, Winfred and even Shorunmu because they were never arrogant. We will surely find another goalkeeper.

    1. You are also disrespectful, telling someone like Chukwu to shut up. This forum is not for insults. No need also discussing Chukwus era. The point is that most Nigerian coaches need a training on how to handle human resources. There is surely a better way for Oliseh to relate with Enyeama till such a time he bowed out of service of the nation. We also know that there are a lot of heady and stubborn players out there in Europe but coaches always manage to keep them for good results. Surely the day is coming when Oliseh will be in trouble and look at the Eagles wishing Oliseh was there. Nobody is irreplaceable but we should also part ways in such a way that we can always call on one another for help in future.

  4. Oliseh's poor anger management would always undermine his efforts if he is not careful...Disgracing a player(Enyeama) who has shown such loyalty and patriotism to the country and has continue to show us good in the diaspora, is the height of stupidity and lack of maturity on the part of a coach..and we have all seen the results of such actions(as we lost woefully to Congo)..We Nigerians (Oliseh) need to recognize and appreciate the success and achievements of others, and not always ready to show off our very low self esteem, jostling and battling for position and recognition!!!.. Oliseh please learn to win with people and not ready to show off your unrefined ego..earn the respect of your team and Nigerians... LEAD please
otherwise, I recommend the NFF be very cautious and observant of his methods and be ready to put him on a short leash when it's due...cos we can't have another round of unproductive years in Senior football!!!
