Multiple blasts rock Maiduguri, scores feared dead

Maiduguri (Nigeria) (AFP) – Multiple explosions were heard Sunday, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, a city in northeastern Nigeria that has repeatedly been attacked by Boko Haram Islamists, locals said.

They said loud explosions were heard from the areas of Kayamla and Dalori, three days after Maiduguri was attacked by the insurgents, leaving 10 dead and many more injured.

This is coming barely four days, after five suicide bombers had stormed the city, killing no fewer than 14 people with 39 others injured, on October 1, the nation’s 55th Independence Day Anniversary.

Also, on Friday, Boko Haram bombed Nyanya and Kuje, the suburbs of Abuja, the Nigerian capital. About 18 people died, including the bombers, even as 41 people were injured.
