Godsday Orubebe is a disgrace - Governor Oshiomhole

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says former Minister of the Niger Delta, Mr Godsday Orubebe is afraid of President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned probe of several billions of naira squandered on the East-West road and on the Amnesty programme under his watch as Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, adding that this is the basis for his latest outburst in the media.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria said the incompetence of people like Orubebe contributed to the dismal failure of the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.

He said: “Our attention has been drawn to the latest outburst of one clown called Godsday Orubebe in his attempt to taint the image of the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“It is no surprise that the former president, Goodluck Jonathan failed woefully because he surrounded himself with such charlatans as Godsday Orubebe, whose only credential is his ethnic origin and the large size of his bowler hat.

“Here was a man whose un-ministerial conduct at the election nearly plunged the nation into an avoidable crisis.

“Does Orubebe really think Nigerians are fools, does he truly believe Nigerians have forgotten so soon the ignoble role he played in his attempt to truncate the release of the election results and announcement of the eventual winner of that election, a move which could have plunged the nation into another civil war?

“Is it not a shame that Orubebe who should be cooling off his heel in jail for that failed plot to truncate democracy has now found a convoluted voice?

“We are not surprised at the timing of Orubebe’s latest outburst. It is no doubt unconnected with the planned probe by President Muhammadu Buhari of the billions of naira allocated to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, even as the East-West road remains in bad shape and the probe of the fleecing of amnesty funds under his watch.

“We are aware that Orubebe, the perpetual noise maker has raised the decibel of his noise a notch higher so that he would have a ready-made defence of witch-hunting if he is indicted in the planned probe of Amnesty funds.

“Orubebe is a yesterday’s man. We could have chosen to ignore him like his Delta brother, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, an unknown entity who doesn’t know the arithmetics of financing, but decided to delve into a matter of a World Bank loan, something completely beyond his mental and intellectual capacity, but we simply can’t let Orubebe have the last say.

“We are not unaware that it has now become the fad for drowning and neophyte politicians to take cheap shots at the impeccable character of the Comrade Governor just to gain cheap publicity. However, Orubebe’s image, as he himself knows, is beyond redemption.

“Is it not laughable that Orubebe, the clown, accused Oshiomhole of biting the fingers that fed him? Pray, how did Jonathan feed Oshiomhole? Did he feed Oshiomhole by supervising over a government that fleeced the nation of trillions of naira, thereby denying Edo State her rightful share of funds for development? Or did he feed Oshiomhole by canvassing votes for him!

“Our candid advice is for Orubebe, a perpetual failed Governorship aspirant, to go to his family and apologise for the irreparable damage done to the family name with his infamous outburst beamed live to the whole world, before coming forward to confront Governor Adams Oshiomhole who is not in any way in the same class as him.

“It is no wonder that Nigeria was at a state of near collapse until President Muhammdu Buhari came on a rescue mission and rendered people like Orubebe irrelevant.

“Never again will characters like Orubebe take us on the path of Golgotha; never again will they hold sway in the affairs of Nigeria and ruin the collective aspiration of the people.”

  5. Probe, probe, probe!!!. Yet no outcome. We are tired of the word, what are the result of the probes?. Very soon, we shall hear the probe of the air Jonathan breathe during his stay in Aso rock. Adam Oshiomhole, the defamation minister of Buhari, carry on

  8. Adams, this na true talk. Oga Jona and Patie nearly plunged this country into another civil war by using the foolish Orubebe or wetin be his name? We Nigerians are being too sentimental. People like Orubebe should not be allowed to have any relevance again in this country. Orubebe is a total disgrace to his immediate family, his state and Nigeria as a whole. I have never seen a block headed man like this Orubebe. I wonder what he meant by saying that Adams Oshiomole is biting the finger that fed him. This is very ridiculous. Please Orubebe quietly shut up and go and hide yourself somewhere before they remember you, or is your brain going on and off?

  10. Nigerians like i always state are the problems of Nigeria. So Orubebe is an elder statesman. Why??? Because Jega handled him and prevented a civil war? Are we now so miopic. Orubebe should not be published by any sensible news organisation. He should forever be ignored and forgotten. Nigerianeye please take note.

  11. Sincerely, we have bad leadership almost at all levels , what kind of lessons they want the young ones to learn from them,? why must our leaders take to the media to abuse themselves this way? This is nothing but shame! Enough of this! I respect Gov Oshiomole so much, but this is becoming too much from a Governor, so no other means of settling quarrels than to use media. I m disappointed in our leaders.

    1. You are absolutely right. The people ruling us all accross are so immature. Their press releases are always full of abuses and anger. They should channel the anger and the hours they spend replying each other with abuses towards development and alleviating poverty. That's any governor or minister who builds a few roads is hailed in Nigeria as a performer.

    2. You are absolutely right.... you know what I am yet to understand is why any wise thinking person will take sides with the Governor or the elder states man........................................we all know their fight is not for the masses but for their SELFISH reason. They both have a personal history and if they have decided, against the wise counsel of the unbiased masses asking them to handle their private business as mature men and find a private environment and settle their personal scores......Staying OFF the media space or papers, allowing space for more important issues that would add to an improved standard of living for all Nigerians................They are trying so hard to score cheap political points.................i just hope BUHARI stays focus in charting the country to a turned page......my advice to every other person is to stay off making comments, if these two leaders have decided to wash their dirty linen outside, we can just buy a pack of popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show as they trade words publicly revealing to us how they have all been killing our great country Nigeria! " (my opinion, which I know I am entitled to)

  12. Adams Oshiomole, please are you now the minister of information? you have a mandate as governor of Edo state, pls be focused? and what have all these noise added to us as Nigerians? Adams answer these questions

  13. From the little i know about law a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty. Is any one under probe automatically guilty? Oshiomole is my state governor and i have respect for him,but he should reduce his comments on this probe issues and misappropriation of fund and let the court or institutions vested vested with the responsibility of probing decide who is guilty. His reputation is gradually diminishing. Today is Oshiomole and this person, tomorrow it is Oshiomole and that person. Accepted, a lot of misappropriation of government fund may have occurred in past administration but the solution or rather recovering and bringing the culprits to book does not lie in abuse and bogus pronouncement on pages of papers. This process of probe should be judiciously pursued.

  14. Honestly!!! I JUST LOST IT TOTALLY FOR GOV. ADAMS OSHIOMOLE. Did you go through your lines and realized you are a public figure who so many youth and children aspire to be like. IF YOUR CHILD IS FACED WITH AN 'ORUBEBE CHALLENGE'...Is this the path that you will advise. Honestlt Jega is more matured and that is why Nigeria is where we are today. My dear Governor...THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH...God bless Nigeria
