Apart from issues of common interest to Nigeria and the US such as security and trade, one of the high points of the visit is Buhari’s expected lecture at the United States Institute of Peace, USIP, Thursday.

The lecture, which would have been held last February at the peak of the March 28 presidential campaigns, will offer Buhari an opportunity to highlight his policy direction and expectations to a large audience of US policy makers, academics, business leaders, and Nigerians in the Diaspora.
Among other engagements, President Buhari will hold talks with Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate of the World Health Organisation, WHO, on economic assistance programme for the North-East and other important stakeholders on Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, a bilateral meeting with Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, US Trade Representative, Michael Froman.

The President will also hold talks on corruption with Loretta Lynch, US Attorney General; talks on strengthening the Nigerian economy with Jack Lew, US Secretary of the Treasury, Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, Permanent Secretary, MFA and Director General of the Budget as part of his team.

Apart from receiving in audience the US Black Caucus in the House of Representatives, Buhari will be at the Capitol Hill, the equivalent of the National Assembly, holding sessions with the Senate and House committees on Foreign Affairs, with lunch hosted by US Secretary of State, John Kerry.
After his meeting with the US Director of the CIA, President Buhari will host his colleagues of the Class of 1980 of the US Army War College at the Nigerian Embassy and later meet with a group of potential investors in the agricultural sector, among others.

    4. He has gone to discus National development, areas of collaboration, cooperation and interest, Economy, corruption and sanitization of the system and also most importantly too security (Boko H) so in all our national life that is why he has gone with everyone who has got to learn one or two things as to improve a sector he or she represents, that is the standard anywhere in the world, please don't curse he or she may not have known; in here is considered a community on its own and people that contributes needs to see themselves as decent enough to belong to this group....Long live Nigeria! Long live PMB!! thank you Nigerianeye

    5. When you read irrational and stupid comments about PMB and attacks on his strive to take Nigeria back on course, it is almost always certain that those comments will come from the Igbo people. They do not have an iota of interest in Nigeria and who is working assiduously to take us out of the current mess we have been put into by their benefactor GEJ. What interest them is how to split us and create Banana Republic or is it Biafra? and a common PHD (Pull Him Down) syndrom developed against PMB.

  2. You guys should always remember that some Nigerians can't tell good from bad hence foolishly and stupidly they still voted for PDP because they believed thieving is not corruption. So don't be surprised if they can't understand what bilateral relations with US meant.By what they say or write here you can tell their mental capacity and capability

  4. The composition of the entorage is too lopsided in favour of the north. Niger Delta is the least represented, if any. Will that mean that we do not have egg heads at all to represent our common interest or at least demonstrate some level of partnership in the Nigerian project? I am beginning to be uncomfortable with Buhari's policy direction with respect to ethnic equality. The crying eyes also see!

  5. Yes, I agree with Safari, the northerners are the least educated sector in Nigeria, but unfortunately they get appointed to every important post available in Nigeria. The lopsidedness is very obvious in this list. Haba you either have to be a northerners or a Muslim to be relevant. I beg where is the equality of ethnic representation
