Buhari will release ministerial list soon – APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) has commended Nigerians for their patience and perseverance over the delay in the appointments of ministers, saying that the list would be released soon.

National publicity secretary of the party, Alh Lai Mohammed speaking with journalists at Oro, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Thursday at the 9th annual Ramadan lecture also admitted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari would have fared better had the ministerial appointments been made before now.

Lai Mohammed however explained that the delay was basically caused by the transference ‎of government from one political party to the other.

He recalled that‎ when transition in government took place within the then ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), ministerial appointments were usually made two weeks after inauguration.

‎According to him, “The concern of Nigerians over the delay in the release of ministerial appointments is genuine. But the fact is that this is the first time in the history of Nigeria that the opposition party will take over government from the ruling party.”

“Our plan was to interface and interact with the outgoing government, but it didn’t just work out so the party set up transition committee which later presented 800 pages handover documents to Mr. President”

“So, in this kind of situation we found ourselves, we have to be thorough in making appointments ‎because Nigerians expectations are very high and it’s understandable. So, in a couple of days the ministerial cabinet list would be made available and it would be a thing of the past”

Continuing, he said “We might be slow, but in reality when we make the right appointments, we will make up for all the shortcoming Nigerians have been complaining about”.

He also decried the comment of the opposition PDP on the performance of President Buhari’s 30 days in office, saying, “the PDP is just revelling in its new found role of opposition, they are entertaining themselves and Nigerians”

  1. The President is very clue-full. A man who won election in April without wasting time at tribunal cannot come up with even 10 names first to assist him. Locks his vice out in security meetings. Sacks southerners and replace with northerners. Hmm. The drama is just starting. May God help us

  2. So because the President needs to read 800 pages, he does not know who he can appoint as Ministers? This is more than 3 months after winning elections. Did he have any plan for Nigeria at all? And please Lai Mohammed, please be more intelligent with your excuses.

  3. The president is already dividing Nigeria with his appointments

  6. Nigerians should be reasonable in their approach to criticism. The President has his own approach to action and how best to resolve them. I do not believe one month in office is too much to exhume reasonable decisions that will have a lasting results to the expectations of Nigerians. Keep in mind that, President Buari once rule Nigeria as a Military Head of States. He has more than basic practical approach to solving Nigeria's problems, more so, corruption. Let him appoint the right caliber of matured and trusted Nigerians to run the affairs of the country. I careless, if all the appointees are from the North or moslems! My concern is appointing honest and dedicated Nigerians to wipe out corruption in the country. I fervently believe Buari's appointment is God's sent . To those who believe in God, God is in control and will direct the President the right way.
