President Jonathan holds private meeting with Adeboye, Oyedepo

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met separately with two leading pastors in the countries based in Ogun State.

Jonathan met with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; and the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo.

The headquarters of Winners Chapel is located in Ota, Ogun State while the Redemption Camp of the RCCG is situated at Mowe along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The President arrived the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos in the afternoon and was conveyed to the venues of the separate meetings in a helicopter.

The two meetings were said to have been described as “private” and hence were not opened to journalists.

After the closed-door meetings with the two clergymen, Jonathan who was accompanied on the trip by a few aides, returned to Abuja immediately.

Details of discussions at the meetings were not known as of press time.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, could not be reached to comment on the purpose of the meetings as of the time of filing this report.

It would however be recalled that Adeboye and Oyedepo were mentioned to be part of a team that attempted to broker peace between Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo before the 2015 general elections.

The two pastors were said to have in January led the President to Obasanjo’s mansion on Presidential Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital for a reconciliatory meeting.

Media reports had it then that Adeboye and Oyedepo were at the meeting at the instance of the former President as one of conditions given by Obasanjo before any meeting with Jonathan could take place.

It was learnt that the men of God were called to be witnesses of what would transpire between Jonathan and Obasanjo during the meeting after the terms of the outcome of previous discussions between the two were allegedly not implemented by the President.

  3. The President had gone to request for a refund of his 6billion naira he gave them to influence the presidential election to his favour which the pastors took but did not deliver. And to express his disappointment that in spite of his belittling himself by kneeling before them he still failed..their gods did not do anything for him.

It's now President Goodluck Jonathan will know that money is not everything in Nigeria and he should remember that it's God that brought him there in 2011 not even the Nigeria or godfather b'cos it has been ordain then... ...but he later choose men above God in his second time... allow selfish people to ruin him and his government with abusive words.... remember the story of Rehoboam and Jeroboam in the bible...

  8. Anonymous 8:10, 8:14, 8:24, 9:20 you all are stupid to talk about the men of God in that insolent manner. Without the prayers from such men and their congregation would we be talking about one united nation today? How dare you refer them to as swindlers. God has blessed them more than enough that they can even give to Mr President. You guys had better repent NOW and ask for God's forgiveness NOW or face the wrath of God. They may not know you and may not read your comments but God will punish you for insulting HIS servants. It is certain. Watch what you say about men of GOD. Repent from it NOW and desist from it.

  11. What do u know about false religion. Well God almighty will defend himself. He stood behind elijahs word. God Almighty in jesus name performs the word of thie men his messangers . In all of time God has never left himself without a witness. So better ask God for his blessings and dont be cursed with your speech. He that blesses you will be blessed and he that curses you will be cursed. Many of you are funny the bible says seek ye first his kingdom and all other things shall be addedd to you. This men have been seeking God since 1960's dont you expect God to bless them.note he is not a user of men.he blessess those who dilligently and truthfully serve him.so i pray for you the shield of darkness the devil has placed on you not to find your way in his kingdom be removed in jesus name.amen

  13. People should mind what they say. I don't think these two men of God are part of those people who should involve themselves in such a thing. To the glory of God, what they control is far beyond the so called 6billion that we are talking about, in short, they are not hungry. The issue of swindling and false religion should not come up. Worship your God you believe in and the judgement day will determine who is really practising the true religion. But as far as Iam concern, Jesus is Lord and only Him will I worship
