President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday advised the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, not to restrict any probe he will want to carry out to his administration alone.
He said Buhari must extend his probe beyond his regime or else the probe will be seen as witch-hunting.
Jonathan made his position known at the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council which he presided over at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He also said those calling for his administration’s probe should also add that the probe should be extended to the way oil wells and fields were allocated in the past.
The President also made it clear that he has not dissolved his cabinet as all ministers are expected to attend inauguration dinner on Thursday in their official capacity.

DeleteIt is not Buhari's job to probe regimes before Jonathan. That should have been Jonathan's responsibility, if he felt it was necessary to do so. Plus, it is not up to Jonathan who Buhari probes. It is not a witch-hunt for Buhari to probe Jonathan's administration, if he has reason to do so. If hundreds of billions are missing from the nation's cofers, what makes it a witch-hunt to look into activities during the previous administations's tenure to see what went wrong? Does Jonathan really know what witch-hunt means?

DeleteI don't see anything wrong in what he has said. The rot in the system did not start from his regime. If any probe will be effective, it has to cover all regime. there is no law that restrict any past government from being probed by any other regime whether it is a succeeding regime or not.

He has privilege information but decided to sweep them under the rug, now he is "ordering" the incoming President to carry out responsibility which was hitherto his, what a shame?
