Governor Rotimi Amaechi refuses to be accredited manually by INEC

Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, refused to be accredited manually by INEC officials in his hometown of Ubima under Ikwerre Local Government after it emerged that there were no election result sheets and that the card readers deployed in the area failed to work.

The Governor, who turned up at his polling unit at about 10:00am, was left disappointed, accusing the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government of plotting to rig the presidential elections in the state.

It is unlikely Amaechi, who is the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, would perform his civic right.

His convoy was seen returning back to State House in Port Harcourt almost immediately.

Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Rivers, Nyeson Wike, a former Minister of State for Education, cast his ballot together with his wife, Suzeth, at Unit 7, Ward 9 in Obio/Akpor area of Ikwerre at about 2.30pm after their accreditation earlier in the day.
