Former Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa has described the postponement as an act of God that will enable the people of Bakassi to exercise their franchise.
According to her, the rescheduled poll “will enable her people collect their Permanent Voters Cards and elect their preferred leaders.”
Ita-Giwa, in a statement, said that if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had gone ahead with the earlier dates, the Bakassi people would have been disenfranchised “because over 70 per cent have not collected their PVCs”.
The statement reads: “The poll postponement is a blessing because it will now afford my people the opportunity of voting on March 28 and in April. The few that have collected theirs are those that are in the refugee camp and their neighbours.
“Thousands from the Southern part of Bakassi who left for Cameroon just to earn income since they are all fishermen registered at Dayspring and they are willing to return to get their PVCs and vote at Dayspring. Now, that the borders are open and the sea is sailable, I have started arranging boats to convey them so they can come and collect their PvC’s. Over 5,000 of us cannot and should not be disenfranchised.
“They are all keen to return home as soon as the federal government develops the Dayspring Island and until then.”
“So, now, you see that the postponement has given us ample time to complete the town hall and make it very habitable for my people and electoral officers that will come there.”
An act of God? Nonsense. When shall we hold incompetence and corruption responsible for these outcomes? We are quick to invoke God, yet unable to live by his tennets. leave God's name out of our foolishness.

Jega had 4yrs to prepare for this election, people that should be collecting their pvc this year are people that registered late last and this year, but you find out that even people who registered 4yrs ago have not been able to collect. Till today, the over 23million pvc have not been distributed where as northeast/northwest have collection rate of about 82%, how come? The peaceful south have 57% as the highest collection, how come? Jega has been challenged to provide documents suggesting that over 23million PVC are already in Nigeria, he hasn't responded, why?

But the incumbent can rig themselves in? Stop blaming Jega. Even if you postpone till eternity those who will not pick up their card still won't.
