Boko Haram will cease to exist if i'm elected President – Buhari

A former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has promised to fight insurgency and other forms of insecurity in the country if elected President under the platform of All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general elections.

The pledge is coming amidst rising insurgency by the Boko Haram Islamic sect in the North East and recent attack on Kano Central Mosque

He also denied sharing money during his recent visit to IMO State during his nationwide tour to meet APC delegates.

The Head (Media, Publicity and ICT) in Buhari Support Organization, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe stated these in his weekly brief on “GMB meet the party delegates nationwide tour” read to journalists on Friday in Abuja.

“At no time all did GMB, all through this meet the delegates tour, share money or lobby any delegate with money. As we all know a leopard can never change its spot. Friends and sympathizers may have privately encouraged their colleague to attend the delegates meeting, certainly not GMB directing or approving any monetary exchange as being faultily being reported by some online media”, he stated.

In his nationwide tour to meet delegates, Buhari had visited Abia, Bayelsa, IMO, Delta, Cross River and Rivers State where Governor Rotimi Amaechi described him as a committed and focused leader whose watch word is integrity which remains a strong ingredient of his character make up that will never change.

Maduekwe said, “The summary of all the response and the welcoming remarks by GMB at various state capitals can be summarized. He made it clear that this country must first be secured and efficiently and effectively managed if our nation is to bounce back to normalcy for our people to prosper. Leadership integrity must be the focus watch word if we must salvage Nigeria once again.

“We recall that we fought a ferrous civil war without borrowing a kobo but now despite budgeting well over 25 per cent of national annual budget to defence recently we are borrowing $1 billion to prosecute insurgency, yet all we keep hearing is the low morale of our fighting forces as they melt before the ravaging ill trained insurgents.

“A situation were about 20 LGAs of this country are under an alien flag can no longer be tolerated. APC is ready to turn the tide to bring Nigeria back into the fold of proud and respectable community of African nations. Our watch word is: securing our nation, prospering our people.

“One is worried to read about Nigerian soldiers giving interview to foreign media on how under equipped they are as they face the insurgency. Effort by the National Assembly to conduct hearing on such sad development is hushed down. Same as the NASS hearing on the subsidy scam which till this date has remained a mystery to our general public.”

Maduwke quoted Buhari as informing the delegates that he has come to seek their consent and support to vote for him at the forthcoming presidential primaries.

He also told them that “if as a party we fail to act strongly to win the 2015 elections then PDP will not only destroy Nigeria but the people living in it.”

  3. Fellow Nigerians, please do not listen to this old fool.
Let me ask GMB, how do you hope to achieve this? Appeasing the blood sucking demons by declaring Nigeria an Islamic State? Do you think the blood letting you have imbibed in these young men will disappear as soon as u become president? the more this man talks, the more he sounds like a clown.
Moreover, Nigerians should ask themselves whether they need a man who is about 12 years or more above our Constitutional retirement age as President.

    2. Buhari can never be president. Let's forget it and discuss other issue. The man that wanted to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state. In short, he won't even emerged as the party flag bearer not to talk of contesting in the general election. Let's wait till 2015. No need to insult each other, no need to fight. Electorate will determine who rules and who does not. End of story

HE SHOULD DESIST FROM SUCH UTTERANCES THAT CAN SO EASILY BE MIS- INTERPRETED. YEAR 2015 IS SO CLOSE. SO ALSO IS THAT AMERICAN PREDICTION. LET'S ALL WATCH OUT FOR THE BANANA PEELS. THE IDES OF MARCH ARE NEARBY WHEN THE WOODS OF DUNSINANE ARE TO COME TO DURBAN...... Jay 2, Abuja.

  8. We know you and your team are blackmailing and intimidating Nigerians to vote for you with Bokoharam. You mean you have the solution for BK and refuse to proffer it and allow thousands of Nigerians die because of your selfish and inordinate desires to rule again? It does not matter how many people are killed in the country by your supposedly agents, as long as you are not voted in they will not stop killing? Which means the so called "attempted bomb on your entourage by Bokoharam" was indeed a stage managed, fake and covert action to deceive Nigerians into believing Bokoharam is not your agency? No wonder the bomb only brushed your motor and some of your entourage were wounded? This is wickedness and God is watching and seeing souls forcefully and prematurely sent to heaven due some politicians devilish crave for power. The same way some of you do not care about the wastage of people's lives going on just because you want to acquire power, so will it be when you snatch power that you not will care for the lives of those you rule/govern. We saw it during your military reign, you did not care about human rights, people were wrongfully incarcerated, jailed and killed without court judgement. Total human right abuse. Does this statement by Buhari confirms he is using BK? Nigerians you figure this out!!!!!!

  20. Guys, it's a known fact that this man GMB has this unfortunate image of being an Islamic extremist and has mostly been judged by people that don't even know his person. Most discernment have been mostly based on negative articles, social media and thwarted history records that of course have achieved a great deal in rubbishing this man simply because the orchestras of this image denting propaganda knows for sure that many do not have the time, patience or an open mind to critically analyse this man. Religion still comes first before the TRUTH.
Bokoharam did not start 6 years ago, it like most terrorist group have been in existence for a while and have become stronger due to the weak leadership that has demonstrated over these years little in combating this menace. Yes it's obvious that there are some camps that are bent in making this government what it is today (an unreliable one) but this ain't unique to Nigeria alone. Our commander in chief has the largest army in Africa, the 3rd best with respect to machinery. Sincerely guys, BH is nothing compared to the military might of this great nation of ours. The problem is; no matter how great a system is, if the leader does not have what it takes to lead, the system is bound to fail. Guys these are people not chickens dying on a daily basis in their tens and hundreds. It's the leadership that must fight back with every fibre of military might in combating and defeating this menace called BH and again create the confidence in the mind of its people. But I say this with all sincerity, we simply do not have such quality, will in the present leadership. For a leader to lead, intelligence, knowledge, courage is a compulsory virtue. A leader that acts MOSTLY on what he is told, who does not have the intelligence to know and counter wrong ideas and suggestions when brought to the table and makes sure that decisions taken during level 1 meetings are the best and not the based on the the subordinate that argues best. When a leader speaks, the people want to see charisma, purpose, will power. This unfortunately we do not have in the present leadership.
I am a christian but not a gullible one. Fashola is a Muslim and I believe he has to some extent delivered. I hear APC is an islamic party, well my bible tells me clearly that what is not of God will not stand.
GMB if you are reading this, a lot still has to be done in reshaping the taught of many.
When the LORD came to his own, he was rejected because they saw him as being different, not in line with the order of the day but he became the best thing that happened to mankind. If u will be the next president ordained by the organiser of all things, nothing will change it.
