Ex Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi, wife spent N100 million on bedrooms, toilets - Ayo Fayose

Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of spending a whooping N50m on beds in his bedroom and that of his wife in the new Ekiti State Government House.

The governor claimed that between Fayemi and his wife, what was spent on their bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms would be in the region of N100m.

Fayose made the accusation in a statement ‘N3.3bn new Government House is Fayemi’s show of wickedness to Ekiti people’, issued in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Assistant on Information and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka.

But Fayemi said the allegation sounded silly and was more of comedy of errors, advising Fayose to stop the “theatre of the absurd.”

Olayinka described the new Government House as an act of insensitivity to the plight of Ekiti people, many of whom, he claimed, could not afford to feed once in a day.

According to him, no progressive-minded Ekiti person will see the “out-of-this-world luxury provided with over N3.3bn borrowed fund for Fayemi, his wife and children and will not weep for the state and its people.”

Olayinka claimed that the bed on which Fayemi slept before he left government, costs over N30m while claiming that that of his wife costs over N20m.

“Between Fayemi and his wife, what was spent on their bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms will be in the region of N100m,” he added.

In his reaction, Fayemi’s media aide, Olayinka Oyebode, said the allegation “sounds silly and more of comedy of errors.”

Oyebode said, “I have taken a guided tour of that place and I don’t think I have seen such outcry.
“I don’t know where they got their figure from, it sounds absurd. I will advise them to stop this theatre of the absurd. Governorship is a serious business and I am appealing to them not to reduce it to a joke.

“They are turning Ekiti into a circus show and they should stop it. It is childish and puerile for them to have come up with that figure. There is nothing ostentatious about that lifestyle: the lodge is there as a property of the state.

“Whether Fayose stays there or not is his cup of tea. The new Government House is a legacy building. Dr. Fayemi did not go with it to Isan-Ekiti; it is for the state.”

  1. Fayose should stop been childish. He needs to settle and start working for the Ekiti people and stop this childish behaviour. We saw the developmental strides of Fayemi and Fayose should get cracking and stop being a "saint"when he is a MORE PRONOUNCED CRIMINAL.

  2. Shout up nd work. Am sure if. Fayemi was a pdp gov, Fayose won't be saying all this

  3. Fayose, your childish foul cry only demonstrates how ridiculous your approach to rescue Ekiti state would sound. Be mature, and do what is relevant.

  4. In fact this guy will never grow up. Why are you crying like a baby instead of setting the ball rolling for your people.

  5. Did Fayose and his camp snatch these figures from the air or do they actually have facts and figures (receipts, bank statements etc) to buttress their accusations? Since taking over the governorship of Ekiti state, all we have heard so far do seem like a "comedy of horrors"! Whether it is Fayose or Ifayose, your very actions are beginning to give you the very deserving title of a "witless, uncouth, trouble making nincompoop". Is this your "manifesto" - making up lies to discredit the internationally recognised good works of your opponents as revenge - or do you actually have a clue about leadership? An advise from someone who was there during the failure called your first attempt at Leadership of Ekiti State (how your libido ruined the lives of young girls for meatpie, wreck havoc in a once peaceful town with your thuggery, and much more that were actually publicly documented) stop throwing all these childish tantrums so you can get to work! We will all patiently wait with our "seeing through bulls excrement microscopes" as you ruin yourself and unfortunately the "stomach infrastructure" hungry people who sold their brains to you and your party's gluteus maximus! This is politics and not an episode of "Sesame street".

  6. If you want to see a Governor that will never deliver, then seek for Fayose. He has been busy painting his predecessor black as if that is what he was employed to do. Can Fayose swing into action to deliver goodies to the people of the State instead of wasting time and sensibility of the learned people of Ekiti State, making unnecessary noise? Am not from Ekiti but i am convinced beyond doubt that Fayose will be a monumental failure. Afterall, he has being a PDP thug.

  7. Big shame to fayose. your 1st term was tainted with corruption issues.Yet, nobody crucified you. You should count yourself lucky 4 coming back.I hope u know dat there are more competent and brilliant Ekiti sons and daughters who can put u in a dark shade but they lack the financial muscle. I do not belong to any political party but you sound boastful, especially at your inauguration. pls stop it. You hav nothing special 2 offer. As 4 Fayemi, posterity will judge him. o ti to ge o awe.

  9. I think this new Government in Ekiti should be more busy mapping out strategies to deliver good governance to the people rather than spending the entire time criticizing the immediate past Government. Are you giving us reasons why you want to fail? If you ave facts against the past Goverment there are better ways of addressing them than running to the press over allegations you have not substantiated. Even if you can substantiate the allegations there are procedures to follow rather than trying to paint that Government bad before the world.

Dont be an empty drum that makes too much noice, please get down to work and prove to us all that you are a better Government. No amount of cheap or costly blackmail can erode the good works done by the immediate past Government. It is your (present Government) turn to either score below or above the threashold set by the immediate past Government.

Remember, there is time for everything; time to be inugrated and time to hand-over.

    Regards.

  10. Is it really true that Fayemi spent such amount of money or Fayose just want to blackmail Fayemi. God help us.

  11. I think the new Governor should not live in the new Governor's lodge for the duration of his tenure. The criticisim is just too much. If I later find out that this Governor packs into this appartment and enjoys the facilities which he had earlier criticised publicly as a way of blackmailing the past Government I will be very disappointed.

So my advise for the new Governor is to lease the property and use it to generate revenue for the governmen of Ekiti, channel the proceeds to "stomach infrastructure".

Please get down to work now, we have had enough of report out meant to blackmail the past Government.

Start work and lets see what stuff you are made of. We can see what value the past Government added to Ekiti, nobody is perfect only GOD is perfect.

  12. Fayose has nothing to offer Ekiti but to pursue personal vendetta. Its is only in Nigeria that criminals like Fayose win elections. He has loads of houses at Olorunda Estate at Ketu-Alapere area in Lagos amongst others. Where did he get the money from if not from embezzlement (e.g Poultry Project) ?

Ekiti people please be ready to cry for the next 4 years !

  13. Yes fayose should face his work. But he has raised some issues which nobody has addressed. Is it true that such amount was spent on a bed? We should ask fayemi how did he spent to acquire the beds and then ask fayose yo provide evidence of the purported cost.

At least that's what happened in the case of sanusi claim of missing money or oduah' s BMW cars. Why are we having double standards here. Fayemi should respond to the issue of beds with evidence of actual cost.

  14. Well said. It's not enough defence for Fayemis aids to call the claim a "comedy of errors" They do have a case to answer and they should debunk the claim with facts and figures.
