APC will sweep PDP away in 2015 –Tambuwal

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has said his new party, the All Progressives Congress would sweep the ruling Peoples Democratic Party away from the Presidency in 2015.

Tambuwal, who only Tuesday notified members of the House of Representatives of his defection from the PDP to the APC, was formally presented to the leaders of the APC, at its mini national convention which held in Abuja on Wednesday.

After receiving a broom, which is the symbol of the APC from its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Tambuwal said, “by the grace of God, come May 29, 2015, we shall sweep away the PDP”.

He described the APC as the party that would deliver Nigeria from “the evil that it has been plunged into by a certain cabal.”

He said, “I’m really glad to be part of the APC family. I’ve been overwhelmed by the massive outpouring of goodwill and welcome that I’ve received from members of our great party and other well-meaning Nigerians after my official notification of my membership of the APC.

“From the depth of my heart I say thank you all. In appreciation for your warm welcome, I’ll dedicate myself to the building of our party and helping our party to achieve the vision of lifting Nigeria to glorious heights.”

Tambuwal added that the APC has progressive ideas of governance, and said he has embraced the party as a veritable platform for genuine change.

He however warned that there was the need for unity within the party for it to achieve its aim of dislodging the PDP and deploying its developmental programmes.

He said, “The programmes of the APC are very attractive and would bring about radical changes in the way we do business in Nigeria; the kind of change Nigerians truly need. The work may appear tedious and the road ahead may appear long and hard, but our party is amply endowed with all the key ingredients for success.

“We need unity and solidarity in our ranks in order to achieve our aims. In the weeks ahead we will engage Nigerians in the future direction of our nation and means of rescuing her from the malaise of youth unemployment, insecurity, poverty, socio-economic decline and infrastructural decay.”

    1. So sorry to say that Tambuwal never failed any one. The one truth all of us have to understand is that all these politicians are job seekers. That is why they can do anything to retain their positions ans remain in power. These people are looking for job. Thats why they are very uncertain in their behaviour. This man is looking for a job and has just submitted his CV. Maybe he feels that if he had submitted his CV through PDP, he would'nt get the job. I see nothing wrong in what the speaker has done. Also note that he cannot resign his office as speaker because it is not written anywhere in the constitution. The constitution only says that the speakerr will be elected from among the house members by the house members and not on party platform. Regards.
