Oshiomhole presents N156.551bn 2015 budget

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, presenting a copy of the state's 2015 budget to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe, on Tuesday.

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Tuesday presented an estimated budget size of N156.551bn for the 2015 fiscal year to the Edo State House of Assembly.


Tagged “Budget of Developmental Consolidation,” the governor explained that the budget was designed to achieve the consolidation of his administration’s development agenda, with continuous focus on the core priority sectors of the government, which include infrastructure, education and health, in terms of resource allocation and injection of new investments.

The fiscal budget comprises N87.56bn as Capital Expenditure, representing 55.77 per cent of the total budget and a proposed Recurrent Expenditure of N68.99bn, which represents 44.23 per cent of the total budget.
According to the governor, the sum of N18.5bn was proposed for the environment sector, education, N18.1bn; road infrastructure, N16.95bn; health N9.295bn; judiciary, N2.955bn; agriculture, N1.005bn, water resources and water supply, N0.981bn and N0.500bn for rural electrification in the capital budget for the energy sub-sector.

Oshiomhole said, “With the giant strides we recorded since we came on board, I make bold to say that 2015 holds a bright future for our people. We will continue to stand on our well articulated development strategy and our key priorities, which will enable us to focus and deploy resources in a more prudent, efficient and effective manner.”

  1. pls tell governor oshiomole to remember Atte road, the people of that area are passing thruogh hell. he shld remember his promise during his campain. he shld knw that if he cannot construct Atte road the next goverment may not have a listening ear to that side. long live the governor! long live Edo statee

  2. The comrade Governor should also remember that there are people living the the rural ares of our state: These people also need the dividends of democracy. Take a place like Ebelle in Igueben LGA where almost all the roads are impassable even by trekking, not to talk of driving a vehicle. Most of the roads have turned into deep gullies and death traps. The government at the grass root is not visible unless on market days when they come collecting "tasks" from the poor market women. This is almost the same in most villages and semi urban towns in Edo state. Please include Ebelle and such other towns in your developmental plans for 2015.
