NTA Staff Accused Of Blackmailing Niger State Govt



The Niger State Command of the Department of the State Services (DSS) has arrested a Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Sapele staffer, Tega Sampson Oghenedoro, for allegedly blackmailing Niger State Government for N50 million.



Parading the suspect before journalists yesterday in Minna, the state director of the DSS, Mr. Larry Obiagwu, said that the suspect goes by the online pen name, Fejiro Oliver, whereas he is an employee of NTA and was blackmailing the state government .

He stated that two other collaborators, Stanley Ogene and Francis Arinze, who co-founded the Secret Reports Group (SRG) with the sole objective of blackmailing government officials and heads of corporate organization for pecuniary reasons, were still at large.

Mr. Larry Obiagwu disclosed that sometime in July/August 2014, the suspects via persistent telephone calls alerted top officials of Niger State government that he carried out a three-month investigation of the activities of state government which exposed the corrupt practices of the state government and expected government to pay him the sum of N50 million or risk the publication of his findings.

The director said Tega is a grade level 08 officer of the NTA, Sapele.

Obiagwu said that Tega, 28, who also works for Elombah Communication, an online news organization that owns Daily Voice Nigeria with the proprietor, Daniel Elombah, a United Kingdom-based attorney as managing editor.
