Boko Haram: It is betrayal to criticise Nigerian army — Presidency

The presidency has urged Nigerians to pray for the troops fighting against the boko haram insurgents, stressing that the highest level of betrayeal of the Nigerian army risking their lives to defend the territory of the country from Boko Haram is to criticize them.

The Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media., Reno Omokri in a series of tweets via his handle (@renoomokri) urged Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of the Nigerian army in defending the country at the expense of their lives. He also paid tribute to Flight Lt Aweke Nwakile whom he noted paid the supreme price defending the country from the onslaught of the insurgents.

His tweets read, “Join me in saluting Flight Lt Akweke Nwakile. He died defending us from Boko Haram #Criticizeterroristsnotsoldiers ”

“The highest level of betrayal of troops risking life to defend us from Boko Haram is to criticize them instead of appreciating their efforts”

At this very second, our troops are fighting Boko Haram in Bama. Pray for them and raise the morale of the @HQNigerianArmy by retweeting.”

  2. I NEED TO POINT OUT FIRST AM NOT A SURPORTER OF TERRORISM, NEITHER AM I SAYING WE SHOULD LET THEM OPPERATE WITH IMPUNITY. its kind of strange, unethical and dumb of nigerians to start saying criticize BOKO HARAM and not the soldiers for there high handeness and there extra judicial killings, some soldiers even went to the lenght of beheading Boko haram suspect that has not been proven in a court of law to guilty just on the testimony of other community members.
Nigerian soldiers should follow the rules of engagement and the geneva convention on human right....there is enough evidence pointing to the fact that there indiscrimate killings have made the terrorist more harden and driven many youth who are caught between the soldiers and Boko haram to CHOOSE one of the two evils.
Due to many years of uncheck military personal and police brutality in Nigeria as lead to this personell to believ that they are above the law.
President G. Jonathan should call is troops to order now before is too late or face the wrath of the internation court of justice whenever is immunity is over.
When are we goin to say enough is enough to this men that are paid from our sweat and taxes. There primary job is to protect the ingerity of the nation and defend the citizens, but instead there barbarism is getting out of hand.
I thought Nigerians have learnt from the over use of power in ODI during the Obasanjo regime when the soldiers went on indiscrimate lootings, killings, destruction of property and raping of that community. A word is ENOUGH for the wise.
