BREAKING: Ribadu dumps APC, joins PDP...eyes Adamawa governorship seat

A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, has dumped the opposition All Progressives Congress [APC] and joined the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].

Mr. Ribadu was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN] in 2011 and until his defection today considered one of the presidential prospects of the APC in the 2015 presidential election.

A member of the executive committee of the PDP in Bako, Mr. Ribadu’s ward in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state, told Premium Times that the anti-corruption chief has been registered as a member of the party and given a party membership card.

The source asked not to be named because he was not authorised to disclose the development to journalists. ‎

It was gathered that the PDP leadership led by the party’s national chairman, Adamu Muazu, mounted pressure on Mr. Ribadu to join the party and be its candidate for the October 11 governorship election in Adamawa.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has already released a timetable for an election being organised to replace former Governor Murtala Nyako who was impeached by the State Assembly last month. ‎Already, Acting Governor Umaru Fintiri and Awwal Tukur, a son of former chairman of the PDP, Bamanga Tukur, have picked the notice of ‎ intent form to seek the PDP governorship nomination for the election.

Mr. Ribadu is yet to publicly declare for the PDP although he has not refuted any of the reports linking him to the party.

  1. Nice move, I am from south but I really love the man because of his humble character and wondered why he joined APC the BH party but I thank God he is in PDP now. I see him as GEJ successor who will help us to fight corruption.

    2. Enh, so others will create the mess and wait for a Ribadu to come and fight. If that is the case, I strongly feel he needs the broom to achieve proper clean up. Because it is most likely that, the umbrella is already infested with an Ebola.

  4. If only our politicians could SINCERELY tell us their reasons for defection each time they do,the people may stand better chances of getting wise. Personal interest is always the driver, they never put the interest of the people before theirs. We the electorate need to realise that while we wait for them to deliver for us,they're busy delivering for themselves. I hope enough of the electorate wisen up this time around.

  9. We northerners are really disappointed with you, God is seeing you and he will judge you accordingly, you have succeeded in betraying us in 2011 election and here you are trying to make the same mistake, your people are being killing everyday but you are busy looking for worldly materials. you put aside people interest and trying to put them in another trauma that is much better than the one they are into, nyako did the same and now receiving the repercussions, Allah ya isa
