'Two died in Bama military plane crash'

A co-pilot and technician on board a Nigerian Air Force Mi-35 helicopter died after a crash in south of Bama, Borno State, defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said on Monday.

An updated statement issued by the Defence spokesman said one of the pilots of the three-member flight crew had been recovered alive.

It said rescue efforts were still ongoing at the site of the crash.

Earlier in a statement, Olukolade said the crash was not “as a result of any enemy action”.

An earlier statement from the defence spokesman said, “A Nigerian Air Force Mi-35 Helicopter on a training mission this afternoon, crashed due to technical fault at a location South of Bama.

“Investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances that led to the accident.”
