Tambuwal attends meeting with Buhari, Tinubu, others

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress and governors elected on the platform of the party met with governors who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja on Tuesday.

The meeting, which was held at the Kano Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, was said to have aimed at solidifying the defection of the five governors.

The governors, who left the PDP for the APC are Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara); Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto); Murtala Nyako (Adamawa); and Rabiu Kwakwanso (Kano).

At the meeting were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mallam Waziri Tambuwal; a former Head of State, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Kwakwanso and Amaechi, Governor Babatunde Fashola and Kayode Fayemi of Lagos and Ekiti states respectively also attended the meeting.

But Tambuwal was said to have left before the end of the meeting.

However, sources close to the meeting said details of the merger agreement with the affected governors were discussed.

It was said that the details were not ready as at the time when the governors announced their defection to the opposition party in Abuja last week.

A former Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, who read the communique of the meeting where the governors defected, said the decision to join the APC was unanimous.

  1. Buhari will be the greatest victim of the marriage of strange bed-fellas. Why? Because as a man of principle, he will not be able to standby and look by the time these strange fellows begin to manifest their obvious socio-negative tendencies. He will either be forced to play along the dirty lines with them or simply be forced into retirement back to his farm, if he have any.
