Patience Jonathan to be honoured with another doctorate degree



The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan will be honoured with another doctoral degree. She will be honoured with a doctorate in Public Administration at the 4th Founder’s Day and 1st Convocation ceremonies of the Oduduwa University (OUI), Ipetumode, Osun State on Thursday next week.

It is Mrs. Jonathan’s fifth doctorate since becoming Nigeria’s First Lady.



Four eminent Nigerians will be honoured in total, The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan will be honoured with a doctoral degree in Public Administration; the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will be awarded Doctor of Finance; the Governor of Central Bank, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will be honoured with Doctor of Economics while Prof. G.A. Olawoyin (SAN) will be awarded Doctor of Law.

Speaking on the forthcoming convocation, the Vice Chancellor of OUI, Prof. Adeleke Ogunwale, said 166 students would be graduating during the ceremony, 18 of which will be graduating with First Class honours; 63 with Second Class Upper; 82 with Second Class Lower while three students will graduate with Third Class honours.

He said prizes would be awarded to best students in different disciplines.

He also said the ceremony would kick off with the installation of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, as the Chancellor by the VC, Prof. Ogunwale.

As part of the programme, there will be a novelty match at the school’s sports ground on Tuesday while Wednesday has been slated for the commissioning of a water project and the new OUI library. Lectures and plays have also been slated for Wednesday.

  1. What a pity 10% first class again. the population is not even up to a dept in some fed universities and yet the no of first class is more than when over 2000 students graduates all together. Anyway that is what the rich in Nigeria wants.
    Also no amount of political doctorates conferment on people can change the status quo

  5. I appeal to all universities to please honour the first lady similarly. She was starved of degree when she was young and nerf to make up. She has achieved what no first lady in the world has achieved and must get all the doctorate degree available. Olodo. Can't she reject these mockery degrees?
