PICTURE OF THE DAY: Dental Surgery Done With Lattern In Nigeria

Perhaps we understand why many Nigerians prefer to travel abroad to get medical attention. Of course these doctors couldn't have started out with a lamp, power outage must have led to this horrible scene. The lamp must have been used to bridge the interface between the power cut and generator back-up.

This is the real situation we experience in Nigeria, as the power situation gets worse everyday, despite the Billions of dollars embezzled  spent to better the power sector in Nigeria. Shame on our leaders, it's more disappointing that this is a Federal Teaching Hospital.

When Doctors ask for some equipments and facilities, and then go on strike the public will ridicule them, saying they want to abandon the patients, forgetting that it's for the general good, and the people who suffer the repercussion the most are the masses. We all know our leaders will travel abroad to treat common cold.

Perhaps we now understand why Nigerian doctors are still on strike.

  2. Go and sit down. Always reporting rubbish. Must govt be blamed for d stupidity of these quacks masquerading as doctors? Cant they back up their equipment with UPS, knowing the sensitive of d job at hand? Even hospitals abroad with reliable power source have power backups

    1. Maybe wen you're in surgery without power and your life hangs in the ballots, then you'll realise the seriousness of this situation and know that what is bad is simply bad; stop making foolish comments, calling hard working doctors quacks wen you have no fucking clue of the challenges they face daily! Wen last did you visit a hospital? If your father or mother were in this situation, would you be happy? Nigerians like you who defend the lapses of the government are some of our biggest headaches; if you have any brains in your head, why should you settle for anything that is not internationally acceptable wen your contry isn't Syria!

    2. Your reply to that fool was all good until you mentioned the name of Syria! You shouldn't have done that.

  3. Gbenga, ur cluelessness, crudity and stupidity is pathetic. Maybe u re one those murderers parading as doctors in all these grave yards scattered everywhere as private clinics. The only language they understand is making quick dough from helpless and hapless Nigerians. For how can someone enter a theatre for surgical procedure without first guaranteeing an alternate power source? So many avoidable deaths have resulted in this unwholesome, unethical practice. People like u just sit down n blame govt for ur slf induced woos.Grow up man and be civil.

  4. Anonymoron,
Shame on u. Tell me one Doctor dat does not wish to work in AC and well lit theatre and I will show u a shameless government. Perhaps "its an act of God". Are doctors to provide UPS or alternate power. I'm sure you can only afford a candle if it were u.

This System is failing. Adieu Nigeria

  8. Hey you guys shld hang yourselves, the doctors should have try to make available a backup power source but that is not to say the Govt is the biggest culprit here

  9. A good hospital is suppose to have an automatic stanby generator.

  10. Every Nigerian can at least boast of " I better pass my neighbor" these ones don't value life. GEJ will not come down from Abuja to go and be buying generator or UPS, it is in their annual budget. The Medical Directors there should be held responsible.
