Youth groups ask Al-Mustapha to contest in 2015

Al-Mustapha was found not guilty of murder charges.

Some students and youth organizations gathered in Kaduna on Saturday to celebrate Hamza Al-Mustapha’s release from prison and ask him to run for elections in 2015.

Several hundreds of people gathered at the Murtala Square in Kaduna to honour the former soldier and Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Sani Abacha.

The gathering, which was tagged ‘Almustapha unity gathering’, was witnessed by hundreds of youth and some Kaduna politicians.

The youth chanted solidarity songs and flew banners in support of Mr. Al-Mustapha, in the watchful eyes of security officials.

Mr. Al-Mustapha, who arrived the venue at about 1:09 p.m., was visibly excited by the crowd he saw waiting for him and was squeezed through the crowd to his seat. He is yet to declare his membership of any political party.

One of the organisers of the rally, Ismail Mohammed, said Mr. Al-Mustapha is being celebrated because he is considered a leader and a fighter of justice.

“We are going to push him to contest an election in 2015,” Mr. Mohammed said.

Mr. Al-Mustapha was freed by the Court of Appeal as the court found him not guilty of involvement in the murder of late Kudirat Abiola, wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.

The Lagos State Government has already appealed the judgement.

  1. Getting tired of this country.

  2. Not Funny At All!

History is Constant and Repetitive. Only the actors and location change.

But in Nigeria, everything about History is same except that even the actors and location do not change. Everythinng here remains constant and repetitive!

History: impoverish, dehumanized and deprive the subjects of decent living, good health care, good and basic education, security, and minimal exposure, etc.

Actors: the select few who can hijacked or stole the people's rights and mandates (govts, godfathers, elderstatesmen, clergies, etc)

Location: all over land in Nigeria since colonial independence

Outcome: what we are seeing in the pictures above and reading from the News. As it has always been.

But behind every cloud, there is a silver lining. Even here in Naija.

Only mentally balanced, emotionally matured, intelllectually detailed, youths can made desired changes happen. Not war mongering cowards who does not understand a thing!

    God Bless Nigeria

  6. What do you expect from the youths?

Youths are hungry; no job, nothing. Now some of them have seen a little opportunity to get little cash from the one looted by Almustapha, they have got no choice than making use of the opportunity.

Something related happened in Bayelsa when Almustapha visited the state, even if Almustapha goes to Ogun state people would still accord him... or haven't you see the head of OPC; Frederick Fasheun with him?

Youths must to compromise because they are hungry.

For the fact that poverty is not eradicated in this country or reduce to a reasonable level, all these nonsense are bound to be occurring belief me.

  9. There was no evidence against him, except he knows and has so much secret in govt about the evils activities of those who locked him. They were afraid he would release those secrets, hence he was locked to be sentenced. Period. If your hands are free God will see you through. Sikina.
